    The new Corvette....

I am surprised that there isn't already a post about the new Corvette on GFY....

I have never been a huge fan of the Corvette - I like them but don't love them - but it seems like Chevy knocked it out of the park with their new Corvette... Which starts under $60k.

      Looks very Lambo-ish.

I love it, just wish it came with a manual option.

That's exactly what I thought..... It looks like a Lambo.

Corvette has been looking more like an exotic car for some time now.... I think it's great.

I don't think anyone needs manual any more.... It's more of a throw back at this point. Automatics are just so much more faster.

I think I read that the Corvette could go into manual mode with paddle shifters?

The new Corvette is the first mid-engine version. It's about time. I drove the 2018 version last summer and its beautiful and sexy and awesome, but all the weight in the front made the car too slippery on the road. This new version should change that.

I'm sad to see Manual Transmissions go, but I understand the reason. As fun as they are, they suck in the city, they are slow compared to automatic, add a lot of weight and extra parts, and very very expensive to service.

I can't wait until GM rolls out the electric Corvette. (And electric Camaro).

Yes Mark, we all fully believe that you "test drove" a Corvette and were driving it so hard that the front end was breaking loose in the turns or that you could barely get it to drive in a straight line.

                .

It's a DCT which will surely be faster than a manual, definitely not arguing that. Even the new Ford Mustang GT500 will not come with a manual option.

I'm in it more for the experience. I had a 700hp car with a fully built racing transmission w/ paddles and it gets boring rather quickly. #savethemanuals

My Mustang was a six speed and put out 450 hp. It was a pain in the ass to drive at low speeds. If you drive on curvy roads where you can push it all the time, that's great. But my car spend most of it's time in the suburbs.

Possibly the best Corvette they have built to date !

And then he woke up with a wet stain on his Winnie-the-Pooh PJs.

I'm curious, then, what was/is the point of having such a car if you never took it anywhere to enjoy how it was meant to be driven?

To me, having an automatic sportscar is like having an automatic motorcycle. Why bother?

Exactly what I'm getting at. Im a track guy myself...1/4 mile is fun and all but it takes a real driver to hit the road course.
