In that case the German language must be a social construct, and not something that organically came from a specific ethnic group.

Judaism is still a religion. I could call myself Jewish as my maternal grandmother was Jewish. My mom decided not to practice the religion and so have I. You can choose your religion but you can't choose your ethnicity...
