The problem with importing millions of low earners into any city is the balance between tax revenue and services are irrecoverably damaged. London is one of the worse places for this.

The above link will show you how in the last few decades the poor n London have grown beyond the governments ability to support them. The type of support they need are expensive.

Housing = £20k to £50k per person.
Education = £73k per child
Healthcare = £3K per person per year.

So how do people on less than £30k a year contribute enough to fund decent public services?

London too has some lovely areas, the parks, the rivers, the city centers.

I grew up in Croydon, and can vouch that it's a shithole.

I left England in 1981 after I realized my hometown--London--was an awful place to live, and full of awful people. The few times I've been back since then has only confirmed my conclusion that London/England are awful places to live, and that English people are still awful. And every time I visited I was told how much better the food had become, only to find it was still as awful as I remember (my father was Italian, and a great cook, so the food I ate at home was always very good).

Oh, and the weather is awful too. Few things give me more pleasure than complaining to Brits that here in Los Angeles I have to suffer through more than 300 days of sunshine a year.

I've been to London twice in the past five years.... I thought it was amazing.
