Eric, it has been a great ride and the best in your future endeavors.

I have been here for a long time since AdultCheck, AgeCheck and the rise of GFY.

Although, my network of sites doesn't make as much as it used to it still makes enough to pay a large chunk of the bills.

Actually, no one posting business topics is what killed this site. When was the last time you posted here before now? All the affiliates were run out of the business and everyone who remained switched to doing business via apps & facebook or linked in.. The bullshit is all that kept this place going.

Affiliates are why this forum existed but the big porn powers that be killed the affiliate model when they started all their Xsales bullshit. After that the places was dead so people started posting BS..

Not true at all, there are still thousands of adult affiliates. Just because you failed in adult and quit in 2012, don't assume everyone else has.

The lack of business topics subsided dramatically when the proliferation of political posts started during the 2015 political debates and it steadily got worse as affiliates, especially foreign affiliates, who had no interest in American politics, stopped coming here and posting business threads.

I agree. And the evolution of facebook and instagram really took the community value away from this place as well. This place was at it's peak not just for biz but for community in the pre-facebook era.

Just too many other resources to get our fix.

This along with the downturn of the adult industry like you speak of ended up being the perfect storm wiping this place of all life except for the cockroaches we see today.

Yeah, I mean I completely agree we have too much political BS here and I'm part of it, but it's honestly just what happened once porn kinda died.. Something people can always argue about is politics so it happens.

Did he fail or simply quit?

I left completely around 2005-2006, sold the business and switched to gambling. Was the best decision me and my partner ever did. But I loved adult, it taught me tons of lessons of web, marketing, scripting and admin stuff. Sometimes I dream of starting an adult site again but it has to be 100% serious otherwise it's not for me.

Agree. The porn business changed a lot with the introduction of Tubes. No longer were search engines listing TGPs or Blogs the same way, no longer were people going to pay for porn, no longer were sponsors bothering with affiliates unless they were very big.

Affiliate killed themselves off. It was natural selection. The cost of affiliates could only be supported in a growing market, once most people in the West had good connections new subscribers were gone. So you were fighting over a similar client base.

At 50% off, the sales price, and rising plus every thing for free, sample, galleries, hosting and support. The costs of running most sites made it unprofitable to maintain affiliates unless big and no worries. Add the costs of new content, running a site, processing, design, etc and site were making less a sign up than affiliates so unless they were big. It wasn't worth it.
