or havent you noticed that entertainment has got really REALLY bad in the last few years? Its because they dont have room for creativity (which is in part inspired by diversity and oppression) within the legal, corporate, bottom-line accounting structure of these giant oligarchies. http://www.mediachannel.org/images/m...s-1200X849.jpg |
How long folk gonna punish the Dixie Chicks? What she did was nothing compared to that dude during the oscars acceptance speech.
They did a concert here in Orlando last week and had to take some extra security measures due to the resentment. |
First post here but I've read the board since it opened. I can't believe what an idiot MrPopup is. This board does not have total free speech. Start bashing Lensman, his programs, etc. and see how fast you get banned.
Same goes for any business entity. Go to work with a tshirt that says I hate ******s on it and see how fast you get sent home. I wouldn't want that in my office because my employees represent me. As offensive as I find that statement you are free to wear that shirt in public. We DO have free speech but it is not absolute as to where and when you can make your statements. If the radio station said don't play their music they shouldn't have played it. They have that right. The DJ's if they didn't agree are free to seek employment elsewhere if it's that important to them. I had never heard of the dixie chicks before this flap but I'm not that big of a music fan so all this BS might have actually been good for them. |

Everyday you come here and make these types of threads. 'Anti this, your government owns you America' blah blah blash. 'America is 1984' yadda yadda yadda. Yet, youre TV station is owned by your government, and your medical health care is CONTROLLED BY YOUR GOVERNMENT. I just find it funny thats all. Hurry up and decriminalize. Prove to the US you can make your decisions. I cant wait.!! |

If that makes you comfortable then I have some Pornosec for you to read. |

Freedom of speech? Everyone walk outside and yell "I don't believe the holocaust happened". Everyone that doesn't post the rest of the day got arrested.
|
The Dixie Chicks will probably profit more since all this shit happened. It was a conspiracy by the Dixie Chicks to launch a free mass marketing campaign. Now everyone knows about the Dixie Chicks. Even if people buy the album to burn it, they making sales :1orglaugh

If they do decriminalize, you can bet your last Corona that a firewall bigger than the us-mexican border will materialize faster than you can say "John Walters" |

'JOHANNESBURG, March 9 (AFP) - A South African radio presenter has been suspended from his job after making a series of insulting remarks about the Sri Lanka team following their dramatic tie which knocked the hosts out of the World Cup.'
http://quickstart.clari.net/qs_se/we....RagE_DM9.html ------ 'DJ Suspended for Kidnap Remark (2002-07-29) California. (AP) - A San Jose radio personality was suspended after joking about the kidnapping of a 7-year-old Philadelphia girl who escaped her kidnappers by chewing through duct tape.' http://deejaypromocom.nexpoint.net/news.asp?newsid=218 ------ 'PHOENIX -- A radio station suspended the disc jockey who called Darryl Kile's widow in an on-air prank and asked if she had a date to Thursday's playoff game. The incident enraged St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa and prompted apologies from the radio station and the Arizona Diamondbacks.' http://espn.go.com/mlb/playoffs2002/...3/1440987.html DJs are suspended and banned all the time. Mr Popup sees only the ones that make for good 'AMERICA IS 1984' threads. most of the djs are suspended for sports comments. cant DJs have sports opinions Mr Pop up? get over it. private owned stations have bosses and they can do what they want and have the right to do so regarding what they play and what can or cannot be said during broadcasts. |

Fletch XXX: <b>"cant DJs have sports opinions Mr Pop up?
get over it. private opwned bosses can do what they want and have the right to do so. "</b> But those opinions don't do greater harm when they are squashed in such a bullshit way. For someone who calls himself a fan of music, you sure dont understand the point of it do you? |

dude....just for a second...step back and without saying "owner has a right blah blah blah" THINK ABOUT IT...the media does still have an obligation to serve the public good WHICH IS WHY WE (UNDER THE CRTC AND FCC) GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO USE OUR AIRWAVES. it is beyond stupid what this radio station owner did. |

Funny little quote about how vote counts are withheld from certain parts of canada during voting. It doesnt really apply, but I can only imagine if they tried to hold election counts for parts of this country during elections so the opther half cant see how the polls are going. hahaha 'As you probably know, every election there is a gag order which keeps Western Canada from knowing how the voting is going in Eastern Canada. This is because Elections Canada doesn't think Westerners can handle knowing how the election is going in the East before they vote.' http://www.auracom.com/~tsherr/feder...ultscanada.htm funny. |

#1 I spent 7 years managing for Taco Bell...do that then come and talk to be about indignity. #2 Show me how playing Dixie Chicks is for the "public good." #3 I think banning any music that is relevant to the niche as long as it's something that wouldn't get them into hot trouble with the FCC is stupid...HOWEVER. What is more stupid is disobeying your employer's wishes. |

I want to see something like this though. 'As you probably know, every election there is a gag order which keeps Northern United States from knowing how the voting is going in Southern united States. This is because The American gestapo doesn't think Northerners can handle knowing how the election is going in the South before they vote.' I doubt it. |

That in itself is indignity. I have college radio dj friend who play the most satanic, evil shit you can imagine, THAT is freedom of speech. Years ago we couldnt have done that, now my friends and I are able to spread the word throughout campus' all over the US. good stuff. |

Its the only people Ive ever hung out with. Before high school, I was hanging with musicians since I was a kid dude, thats all I know. ;) |
He's Canadien? hehe.
Shouldn't you be off freeing your own radio and tv stations from the evil clutches of the Canadien govt, Mr Popup? A guy with govt controlled media saying radio stations can't fire employees because it infringes on freedom of speech and thought. HAHAHA This thread is funny. |

Maybe so, and obviously in your opinion it was stupid, but that has absolutely nothing to do with free speech. Get a grip. The owner of the radio station has freedom of speech to play or NOT to play whatever he wants... the employees (djs) have to listen because it's their job. Simple. You're just an instigator who believes that everything that you don't agree with is an attack on your freedom, rights or beliefs. That is simply wierd for you to always think that. |
