Bitcoin worth $41 million stolen from Binance

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-c...-idUSKCN1SE0FK

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Hackers stole bitcoin worth $41 million from Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, the company said on Wednesday, the latest in a string of thefts from cryptocurrency exchanges around the world.

The 7,000 bitcoin were withdrawn by hackers using a variety of techniques, “including phishing, viruses and other attacks”, according to a post on Binance’s website by chief executive officer Zhao Changpeng.

The post said user funds would not be affected because the company would use its secure asset fund for users to cover the loss.

Bitcoin’s price dropped by as much as 4.2 percent in early Asian trading as news of the hack broke, although it later recovered some of its losses.

        phishing, viruses
So it was a widespread attack on many individual accounts and not through a back door into binance?

          Use wallets Ledger, Trezor, Electrum

Do NOT store your Bitcoin/crypto on exchanges.

It's so funny that nothing is worth so much something.

As I say this, I just got back into Bitcoin tonight because I can't take seeing it rise to 6000 when I could have bought it back in the 3000's.

Rather than looking at it as a tool to make (or lose) money, understand it and you'll see it is "something". Understand it and you'll become bullish.

Thanks for that video. I always did generally know what it is, but not explained so clearly. When I say it's "nothing", I mean technically it's nothing because it's not tangible physically. But I guess it gets its value the same way any other currency did throughout history. Maybe not exactly the same way because digital is a new realm, but it's still assigning value to tokens which can be exchanged for something else of value, like some third rate Viagra knockoff or an escort while you're in Vegas.

Aside from the politics behind Coinbase, they are great. Considering the politics of Coinbase/Brian Armstrong, terrible, from their unplanned launch of scammy BCH trading to supporting NewYorkAgreement (basically anyone on that list was wanting to be part of a central control of BTC)
