75 years old is really old to be getting surgery oftentimes they don't allow people that old to get heart surgery because they are too much risk of dying during the operation.

Have you ever seen Death Becomes Her?

at a certain age The immortal have to fake their death and start a new life so that mortals will not realize they never die. Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, etc. etc.

Will they need to put him under to do the surgery?

I had two devices inserted into my heart while I was conscious. They went in via my right arm pushing the devices up my arm and across my chest. While I watched it on an Ex-ray screen.

Fucking hurt but I survived.

Godspeed, Mick.

And I gotta wonder why he'd forego the socialist medical system that he pays taxes for in his own country, in favor of the capitalist one in the USA? Is he a Trump supporter?

It should be pretty routine...but of course all surgeries have a risk.

Matter of fact, I heard on Sirius XM yesterday that the Stones are already tentatively rescheduling the tour for June! WTF?!?!?!

Anyway here is info on heart valve replacement surgery and age:

"Fact: More than 300,000 people worldwide have heart valve surgery annually. Fact: Valve Replacement and Heart Bypass surgery (or a combination of the two) are the most common procedures in the “elderly.” Fact: More than 30% of the patients having heart valve surgery are over 70. Fact: More than 20% of heart valve surgical patients are over 75 years of age.

Our definition of “elderly” has evolved over the last 25 years. The last generation may have retired at 65. Today’s 65-year-old…or 70…or 75-year-old…may be playing golf, tennis or skiing. The desire to be active, independent and useful often comes face to face with the human body’s limitations. The failure of heart valves is one example.

'We know that age is one risk factor that surgeons consider when evaluating a patient,' says McLeod Cardiothoracic Surgeon Dr. Cary Huber. 'But people over 80 are now successfully surviving valve repair and replacement surgery. So, age is not the only factor we consider – especially with improvements in surgical techniques, anesthesia and intensive care.'"

"Mick Jagger has successfully undergone treatment. He is doing very well and is expected to make a full recovery," a representative for Jagger said in a statement

This kind of thing has come a long way.
I was just reading that replacing the valve in his heart was a "minimally invasive" procedure!

It used to mean that they would be taking a freakin' saw to your rip cage...but these days I guess they use tiny cameras and tiny robotic arms with computers to do the surgery without even cutting you open.
Amazing.

Your quote from the song "Some Girls" is off....
the lyric is actually: "Black girls just want to get fucked all night, I just don't have that much jam"

The operation was performed in the USA by Dr A.N.Tman FACC

he was in and out in just a few minutes.

Thread title is false. No one will be cutting his chest open. It's a procedure where they go in thru his thigh and run the new valve up the artery to the heart.

The bigger question: Why did he choose to have the procedure done in New York, rather than the UK, where he's paid a lot of money into their health system??

Answer: Because they WOULD cut his chest open, after waiting for 2 years. Becasue socialized medicine is SHIT.

I don't know what his current status is in the U.K., but they were very famously tax exiles for decades from England. Hell, they recorded the album "Exile On Main Street" in Keith's estate in France with the title of that album speaking for itself in that regard.

And though he has a house in London...he also has homes all over the place. And I do believe he stays in NYC a lot. Hell, the "Some Girls" album was like a love letter to New York.

Anyway, my point is...even if Jagger were to have had the surgery in London...he DEFINITELY wouldn't be using the same doctors as people there using socialized medicine use.

I would also be willing to bet that his medical condition was discovered during a mandatory physical exam ordered by the company insuring the tour. And that insurance agency probably also had a place at the table in choosing the very best surgeon and facility for Jagger since they are insuring a tour worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

So forget the political stuff. This is about BIG money and has nothing to do with socialized medicine.
