The notion of any country in the 21st century standing alone is stupid. Countries now trade with each other, people visit each other and the Internet proves we are all citizens of the world.

However a country should be able to rule itself and let only it's own citizens choose it's own leaders.

So why isn't the EU doing more to restrict China's growth? A massive embargo or ruling that China has to buy more from Europe or sell less would be great.

the only disaster that britain (and nearly all other EU countries) faced was the 2008 crisis. low interest rates have led people to get into debt and live beyond their possibilities. nobody wasted a thought that they will be burdened later. and now they are used this good but borrowed life. the same thing will happen to the americans very soon as they do this shit since centuries.

My guess is Britain will stand just the same way they did for hundreds of years before they joined the EU.
