      A universal basic income is likely in our future, but it is not our present. Any serious candidate, I believe, can't endorse this and push for it because it will sit badly with most people.

      In 20 years, maybe people will think differently.

          Put in another way, maybe the SUPER ECONOMIC DEPRESSION that' some economists predict will happen soon can pave the way for a CHANGE IN CONSCIOUSNESS that makes UNIVERSAL INCOME politically NECESSARY?

                  I suppose it is possible.

                  To me it will not be a realistic thing until we get to that point where automation has taken most of the jobs humans do now and we find ourselves without enough jobs for everyone.

                  In the event of a depression, I could see how it might come into effect but I think it would only be short stop gap kind of thing.
