I read that last night. Apparently it was a cub or baby, and had already bitten the face, ears, nose and chin. Most people would run but be taken down for lunch. The smartest thing was to choke it if unarmed.

I grew up several blocks from a zoo. No escapes yet in thirty years or so but kids love to taunt and tease the tigers, lions, elephant and monkeys. One kid got over the fence years ago but his father grabbed him in time.
The animals are about thirty feet from the road on one side. It’s comical when they walk the elephant along route six near the highway. People slam on their brakes in shock!

its actually quite easy to choke out anything...he probably used a collar choke or maybe a rear naked choke if he managed to take the back from a side control position...once the arms lock in place you can easily choke out anything that is not 300lb or more...the rear naked choke is called mata leao in BJJ it translates to lion killer...the mountain lion is easy easy prey of you have it in a choke hold...if not, it will probably fuck you up really really bad

its actually quite easy to choke out anything...he probably used a collar choke or maybe a rear naked choke if he managed to take the back from a side control position...once the arms lock in place you can easily choke out anything that is not 300lb or more...the rear naked choke is called mata leao in BJJ it translates to lion killer...the mountain lion is easy easy prey of you have it in a choke hold...if not, it will probably fuck you up really really bad
