question for designers: draft out on paper first?

when you start a design, do you draft out ideas on paper first or no?

i never have, although i think i'm going to give it a try since i was always pretty good w/ pencil design as a kid... and i think i know the programs well enough to accomplish what i'd draft out on paper first...

speakin of pencil, heres a pic i drew when i was in like 6th grade, fuckin a', although her face looks disfigured to shit

Nice stencil.

I don't draft on paper, I think of my ideas on the monitor. Moving layers around, etc.

I almost always use a paper draft to start off a new project. Even if its just roughly sketching out the layout and writing down in list form the ideas that may work or may not work- it helps to get the ideas flowing.
