i used to work in a cinema and I am a serious movie buff so I am always guessing which are going to be the hits. One of the tests I use is the 'london underground poster test' where I watch to see which posters people actually look at when they are on the underground. On Friday night we saw the Matrix posters on the underground for the first time and nearly everyone that walked past them made a comment to the person they were with or turned their head. There were X-men posters around but I didn't see anyone comment. Now, that could be because the posters were new and the X-men ones had been around for a while.
I haven't heard T-3 mentioned much over here yet so I don't know about that one. |

Those Matrix posters are really catchy, even though they are simple. Brings on the suspense by not showing the faces. |

I'm thinking Matrix will be the big blockbuster of the summer.

we are all in the wrong part of the entertainment business thats for sure.
i am the first one to pick up a movie or watch a ball game or buy a game for online or music cd (well maybe not the first person :) ) and if you really think about how much money we are putting into the pockets of actors, directors, singers, athletes...it's fairly frightening. dont get me wrong, i love entertainment as much as the next person so what i am about to say may sound hypocritical. these people don't need to be paid 20 to 120mil for something that the average joe does on any given day. if anything, i can respect the writers, editors and animators for bringing a movie together for completion. someone who says "i'll be back" doesnt really get my respect. know what i mean? |
as someone who would love to be a writer I want to agree with you but I suppose the idea is that it is the star that puts bums in seats and therefore they can demand the money. Market forces and all that.

mm.. I dunno, the actors make as much of the movie as the writers etc if not even more. A movie with a great script but shit actors will suck.

Matrix by FAR.
I bought my tickets for the May 14th showing of Matrix two WEEKS AGO. I saw X2 on Sat. and I was actually surprised that some of the shows sold out...I never would have thought to buy advance tickets to it even. It was great though, I agree with many posting here that the second was even better than the first. |

Arnold hasn't had a hit in about 10 years. In fact he's like a curse to a movie now... Arnold in a flick is generally considered a guaranteed bomb at the box office now. T3 will undoubtedly be the exception to the new rule that Arnold's acting career is all but over. T3 will be huge. No where near as big as Matrix or X2 though. In my opinion it doesn't even look good, actually looked borderline cheesy... This will be the last big hoorah for Arnold, and honestly I have to say it will be sad to see because T3 truly will be it for Arnold, so when you see it on the big screen, understand that you are seeing the closing chapter of his action carreer, and probably the last hit movie he will ever have. |
Just saw X2 this past weekend and thought the first one was better. In the first one Wolverine took the movie but Nightcrawler was the best character by far......there will be an X3 for sure. Anyway believe it or not Bruce Almighty brought in more money than Matrix in its first weekend! :thumbsup
