What was your attention span like before social media or the Internet in general?

I don't know about you but the fact that I 'scroll through' most of the stuff I 'read' online makes me, well, impatient?

Anyone feel the same?

Well , internet era definitely made me totally impatient but that does not make it ADHD lol. There was a time when 56k speed was considered fast speed and now even 100mbit seems to be too slow. It's all about habits.

I do. It has something to do with the refresh rates of the screen and putting you in a slightly different state of consciousness, which makes memory spotty.

And also, most of people , dont bother to read full article, they just read title and maybe first few words and that's it. I very rarely read entire article, mostly just scroll it.

Well I'm an old man and I remember getting my 1st TV in 1955. So my childhood predates 90% of all this bullshit junk.

Now at least twice a week I'll still sit down and read a book for 4 to 6 hours. I also have hobbies that include the restoration of old cars, old guns and model ship building using match sticks.

I'm a very private person that believes sharing information about yourself should be confined to strictly family and very close friends. Also I don't give a rat's ass what someone says online about me because if they truly had something to say they would do it to my face.

Finally as for social media I only see it as an easy way to get money out of the pockets of horny losers and if it wasn't for the money I would have absolutely no use for it at all.

yes , scroll or "scan" I noticed it yesterday, reading print, I was impatient, and just sort of scanned over the whole thing, to get the gist of the story !

Anyone have that movie you will always start watching when stumble upon it? For me, that movie is Robocop. It's been on so much lately and I always start watching it no matter what part it's on. It's all a 100% perfect fucking movie.

I just came to look up something Robocop reminded me of, then ended up here. Internet ADHD is way more powerful than my love of Robocop.

Robocop is actually my favorite movie hero along with no5, and i could probably rewatch many times as well. Only thing what sucks with robocop how all sequels after original movie was bad.

Basicly, there is two causes of impatience
1.Information/choice saturation
2.Getting a habit

In first case, when you have a choice to choose between many thing to read/do, it can take toomuch time to do action causing impatience.
In second case, let's say you go to restaurant, and they serve your food every day for exactly 10 seconds,but when you come there second week, suddenly it takes 20 second and then you become impatient, yet if original delivery time would be 30 seconds and stay 30 seconds, you would not become impatient.
