What's strange is posters saying they are against illegal migration and also against a Wall to stop them. The Wall won't be a stand alone project, it will backed up by Border Control and hopefully barbed wire and electronic surveillance.

Everyone is against illegal immigration. However, we do not need to spend twenty billion dollars on a wall in the next two years. Walls work great in some areas, but not in others. Why spend a billion dollars on a wall in an area where no one crosses when a handful of border patrol agents and a single helicopter would easily cover it?
Building a wall is not cost effective. At the same time, illegal immigration is down. Why spend money on something that is not cost effective to solve a problem that is becoming less of a problem every day?

Going after the people that regularly hire illegals and ending birthright citizenship would be a much more effective deterrent than a wall. The wall will only be as effective as we are at defending and patrolling it. Right now (and for the past several years) there are more than 1,400 unfilled requests for more border patrol agents. It's a shitty job and they are having a nearly impossible time finding enough people to do it. Unless we plan to use the military to patrol the wall or we add some serious technology to it, people will just go over or under it and it will do no good.Comment

I agree with most of what you say.
If someone wants to come to the United States, they must do so legally. Make it difficult - but not impossible - for someone to become a US citizen. You want them to jump through hoops. At the same time, we need to crack down on people who come here illegally, and also crack down on people who hire illegals. If a company has a track record of hiring people illegally, they need to be shut down completely. Anyone who gets arrested in the US for being here illegally should be thrown in prison for a minimum one year stay, with longer sentences every time they are caught.
No one wants to be a border patrol officer. It's a crappy job, and you live and work in crappy border towns. It's also dangerous and boring.
I am beginning to question the birth right issue too. It seems to me that some people are traveling to the US to have their baby ONLY so they will be American citizens. I'm not talking about people from South America.... I am talking about all countries. We have people coming from Europe to do have their children here, and that's wrong.Herschel Savage
