Right now I am taking a leadership class put on the by the local Chamber of Commerce. It's giving me an inside look at how our city operates. It's amazing really. More or less, every department has a "fund" or account - Some have multiple accounts. Fire and police, for example, come from the general fund which comes from our taxes. Other departments, such as our parks and recreation department, are self sustaining meaning they pay for themselves (They raked in $1.1 million last year - surprise!). If the parks and recreation department takes in more money than it spends in one year, it cannot give or loan that money to the fire department for a new fire truck. Why doesn't our federal government work in the same way?

This is what I will never understand. Raising he deficit is bad, period. We shouldn't do it at all. A balanced budget means the deficit goes down. I hated it under Obama, but I understood why it was needed. Now it's not needed at all. And what did Trump do? He increased spending on stuff we didn't need (why do we need to spend MORE on our military?) and then cut taxes for the rich. WTF? That is the direct opposite of what we need to do.
