This is the story Sanjay told me many years ago.

One day while still in school he was walking though Kolkata on the way to a job when he was involved in a stabbing incident. He witnessed another guy getting stabbed in the street and ran over to help.

Sanjay stayed with the guy for over 30 minutes patching the wound with a handkerchief which stopped him bleeding to death while the ambulance came and that's why he likes purple.
