Google intends to kill telemarketing with new Pixel 3 phone

    https://www.businessinsider.com/goog...screen-2018-10

I hate telemarketing calls as much as I hate popups and misleading ads and malware...

But how can google--a company whose entire existence depends on ad revenue--how can they go around killing every ad format that they don't own? It shouldn't be legal.

If they had their way the only ad formats would be adsense banners and SRP ads.

    They have too much power.

Sadly, this is how everything is going. Just a few big companies own all the major media companies and we are seeing more and more big mergers. Pretty soon it is going to be like the movie Demolition Man where everything is Taco Bell only in our world everything will either be Google or Amazon.

DOJ must invoke Sherman Act against these conglomerates...

We used to break up these large companies before they became too powerful, however Republicans stopped that. So if you dont like what's going on, blame Republicans..

I now get 10 fucking calls a day.

I got it figure out thought. My cell phone is my old Phoenix 623 area code. I only accept calls from people I know, or local northern California phone numbers.

Facebook sold a huge ammount of user phone numbers.

No need to wait. My Pixel 1 lets me know it is spam and asks me if I want to block it, answer it or just hangup on it. I block it.

In New York we keep getting these robo calls with Chinese voices. All gobbledy gook. It's been on the news. They come from 800 numbers, local area codes, numbers that look like it's your own number, crazy shit.

It would only kill telemarketing if everyone used a pixel 3 phone...which everyone doesn't.

Funny, how you mention that, as i was thinking about that scene often. But it's not taco bell, it's pizza hut in movie. I spotted pizza hut in for first time here in Prague several months ago and it seems they expanding, and they are cheaper then other pizza places. But it's not just price what define customer taste so dont think they can put other pizza places out of business.

I don't answer anything unless I know the number. Leave voicemail and I'll call ya back.

Use to have a local business number and since I switched it to an (800) number that eliminated 99% of the bullshit calls.

I trying to do same but sometime is hard to resist to pick up phone. Tho, what i am not doing, is calling back - some people have habit to always callback, so some people figured that out and abused it by calling from high price numbers.
