It could be a fantastic fight. The wrestler versus the striker. I think Conor will win so long as his cardio holds up and he can get past those first few rounds where Khabib will want to take him down and smash him.

Khabib won fair and square. He was the better fighter. But that post-fight brawl was fucked, uncalled for, and made me lose all respect that I would have had for him.

Khabib is one of the very few legit fighters in a sea of people who constantly fail upwards.

He is one of the VERY FEW who truly understands the Art of War.

He doesn't try to crush someone, he doesn't try to hit them more or harder.

He grinds them down, stays heavy on them, he keeps them in a bad position and forces them to attempt to fight their way out of a horrible position while making it a hopeless endeavor.

He lets them make all the mistakes from a bad position, he lets them burn energy because they have no choice on the bottom to use explosive movement to get out and he doesn't let them, he never takes chances, he stays heavy them, he maintains a great position, he controls them and just lets them struggle until they give up mentally.

McGreggor came out afraid to even kick because he knew he'd end up on his back and lose. Even a low kick is very easy to trap to go for the take down. Khabib fights on the ground, just like lomachenko does in boxing. Same exact process. Takes the opponent on the same exact emotional ride and guides them to defeating themselves.

Those two are great fighters because they are among the very few in combat sports that actually understand how to methodically and systematically wear an opponent down psychologically until he's defeated himself and given up. The finish at that point is just a formality.
