    I’ve noticed most blogs have the sidebar on the right. I’ve always had mine designed on the left.

    Why do you keep the sidebar on the right? People read left to right when reading English.

      so main ad is placed on top of sidebar which is in the center of golden ratio (fibonacci spiral) where for some reason most of the people look first (same as ntv ads on tubes).

              "People read left to right when reading English" - that is exactly why you should put the sidebar on the right side. The primary content should be on the left, as it is the first thing people see and secondary content like ads on the right.

              Some do not have a sidebar at all

                  Makes sense. I’ve always put the sidebar left so the choice to click is the first thing they see.

                  Guess I’ll try a right sidebar. Godnose there are enough free themes out there like that.

                  I’ve seen no sidebar and links at the top instead. I’ll have too many categories to do that so sidebar works best.

                  When weblogs first appeared, I thought a Jew invented them because Hebrew is read right to left. The sidebar was on the right .... !

                      Arabic letter is written opposite, right to left so people are preparing for inevitable, based on the "migrations" in the previous years, at least in Europe.

                      While we wait for that, there is a lack of quality themes with two sidebars compared to one sidebar theme. Why wouldn't you place as much important content as you can above the fold?
