SEO: Links from unrelated niche-sites? Bad or Nah?

It's always been my understanding that links to your site should be from a similar niche. I can't help but think that if I had a new site, non-adult, and it had a dofollow link from an adult site with high SEO scores, that the engines would still give your unrelated site great amounts of love.

But, I don't know.

What is your experience or understanding on this?

It's better than no link in most cases (controlling for penalties, etc.) and honestly it happens that sometimes articles link from one thing to the next. I'd imagine Google looks at adult links quite a bit differently though. Industry has a track record of not being so reliable. Still useful, but same niche is best.

Bad? No. Think of natural linking processes. A quality website will naturally have links from all sorts of other websites. Different niches, different styles, different ages.

Should you buy them? That's a different question altogether.

If you are worried about the quality of the back link then do not point them to your index page, instead, point them to pages within your website. That is a good way to boost your domain Authority which is a trust rank factor with Google.

In the adult industry all that matters it is the volume of backlinks you have, use Link Opportunities Tool for SEO Professionals - LinksSpy.com to see the backlinks that make rank your competitors, 45 days for free.

Great information and I think the first thread not about politics in this forum for roughly 2 years. Do I win something? ;)

Like he said. Most cases. Most. But there are times when you can slide in a kinky non niche site with good metrics.

But if that's all you did, you'd be fucked.
