What's your position on 3D printed guns?

Personally, I think if you blow your own hand or face off with these it will be well deserved.

I would think that responsible legal gun owners would be against them. I would also imagine the NRA would be starchily opposed as they make no money.

    What do you think?

Technology always outpaces the law by 5-10 years so like it or not they're here. I'm not worried about it. Population control

I think 3D printing is an awesome technology. But sooner or later, you can count on some fuckstick to think of this kind of BS to do with it, and put a bad light on the technology. Or who knows, maybe it was thought of by some manufacturer who felt their business would be threatened by 3D printing.

I look forward to the day when 3D printers will only need to use protons, neutrons, and electrons as ink. Then people can print bars of gold, diamonds, or even a 19yo Cindy Crawford.

You could remotely print an exact copy of yourself on the other side of the globe, eliminating the need for travel. The scan process would need to be so detailed that it would effectively destroy and kill your original body. But in your head, all you know is one minute you were in New York, next minute you're in Toyko.

But why stop there? A 3D printer probe could be put on Mars, allowing you to arrive there in about 10 minutes.

        Possibilities are endless.

I think it is unstoppable. I think it is funny that Trump let it happen and then came out against it. Just more lunacy from this guy.

It's not going to make fuck all difference in the USA because guns are so easily available if you have $500 in your pocket, face it 10 more a day could be shot and no one would even notice unless the shooter was a Muslim.

Other countries its more of a concern

What's a problem to go into any arm shop and buy a normal gun? Why you always have to print it, buy the barrels as separate parts etc? What's wrong with the gun rules in the USA? In my country you can just go to the store and buy a gun (you can order it even online). A semi-automatic civilian version of course (nobody will sell you a military unit if you don't have a special permission). But... you don't need to print anything. If you buy a Kalashnikov riffle made in Russia (not in China or Bulgaria) you can be 100% sure it won't take out your arm or your eye. I do believe the situation in the USA is similar. Just buy the officially made AR-15 and don't worry about your arms and eyes.

The problem is just you don't understand it. The gun control situation in the USA is different from state to state (usually it applies to caring the guns on street - hidden, openly or nohow), but everywhere in the States you can legally buy a semi-automatic civilian riffle. So why should you print it and hurt yourself when shooting?

Just think about this for a moment...

If you're going to bypass the system and print your own gun, then you're probably the type of person who shouldn't have access to a gun.

Owning firearms is for responsible individuals who respect the laws put in place for a properly functioning society. Printing an assault weapon is for anarchists.
