Heh, just another ricer kid. These fools are a dime a dozen. Heartland Park, Topeka KS. May 29th. The first street car challenge. Anyone who is in this area should come (especially if you hate ricers as much as I do).
There are loads of ricers that show up here to compete with the real street cars and most of them wind up running away with their tails tucked between their legs. A lot of the ricers will beat stock mustangs or Z28s but the majority of the real street cars will spank the ricers. I will be there on the 29th sending the ricer crew packing. A friend of mine just got his 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 455 done so he will be there too. I will bet my left nut that no ricer beats him. |

Now that makes me be ashamed to be an eclipse driver. I would not in a million years try and race that guy(at least with the engine I have now). I can take out half the little civic drivers around though. I was driving back from school yesterday and I almost rear ended this jackass cause he was driving a ~96 civic hatch back with one of those retarded "fart can" things middle class white kids like to ask their parents to buy them. His car sounds like a 747 but it moves 5 feet, I could have been up to 50 by the time he was across the intersection.
As far as the eclipse goes I'm not sure I'd consider it a ricer. It, unlike a civic is still a reasonably ballsy car. Not only that, but it looks sexy stock ;) |

A tweaked out Eclipse could totally blow away an M3, but in the vid it doesn't look like the guy in the M3 was racing, when you launch a BMW you have to light 'em up and there wasn't a trace of smoke.
I used to drive a Dinan'd out '98 M3 and I could hang with just about everything below an exotic, but after coming VERY close to getting my ass handed to me by a supercharged Del Sol. I could see how an import could drop an M3. Remember the block in the old Eclipse was the same as the block in the Lancer Evo, guys. The WRC version of which, with a turbo the size of a fucking hydroelectric turbine, makes nearly 400 HP and over 400 ft-lb's of torque. |

Besides I can smoke any Eclipse POS on my bike. There aren't many cars that'll do 10 sec quarter miles, at 125 mph stock.

I drive a 2000 civic SI with about 250 wheel horsepower (its got the usual bolt-ons, but I also built a turbo.. used parts from various cars to put it together).
I also drive a 2003 RSX with 310 wheel-power (also achieved with a turbo, but this one is real, not homemade) I've raced a few times in the RSX, which is my "fun car".. Haven't lost yet. First was to an eagle talon, second time was against an older mustang. As for the whole "ricer" phenominon, yeah, ricers suck, and decals and sound systems dont help your quarter mile time... but if someone wants to do it, so be it. If they like the look/sound of it, then who the hell has the right to tell them it sucks? I find domestic enthusiasts seem to have a large spot dedicated to hating imports and the people who drive them... There's got to be a reason for it.. could it be jelousy? Who knows. But whatever it is.. its getting really fucking old and the car world is getting raped because of it. Think of it like this.. if someone had an oppinion about something, would you say "your a fucking idiot that doesnt deserve to live"? Of course not.. so dont do it to people that like imports. Im all about performance, but dont start saying "theres no performance in a 4 cylinder engine", cause i'll just wave it off like your an idiot. You take what you like, and you run with it. (and no, neither my SI nor my RSX has a bodykit or a wing, or decals, and especially not a sound system... all those things succeed in is getting the owner laid by the car-show sluts.) |

a $10,000 GSX vs. a $35,000 M3? I used to own a '95 GS-T w/ a 14b turbo, intake, full cat-less exhaust, all the toys.. And made decent HP.. Took M3's on a pretty consistant basis, along with Z28's, GT's, etc.. With knowledgable driving (yes, that does mean going to race school and actual track time to practice your launches) and a well tuned car.. any import can beat heavier luxury cars and heavy american muscle. BTW.. I have owned BMW's and I love them like I love my arms, but they are not invincible. Get over it all you yuppy 'racers' that think your M3 or AMG owns the road. A well tuned Civic Si may pull up next to you weighing in at a whopping 1,200 pounds a put a hurtin on your ass. Okay, just my :2 cents: .. flame away. |

Premium here is 91 octane. When turbocharged cars go to race gas they can raise the boost significantly, so 70 HP is not out of the question.
