If you still collect comic books... You most likely live with your mom.

I still have my collection. My mom doesn't live anywhere near me.

Ho hum. The point of Free Comic Book Day is to introduce CHILDREN and ADULTS to the artform.

If you are a parent with a child that doesn't like to read, comic books may be the answer.

If you are an adult, you will be in good company. The average comic book reader is a college educated male in his late twenties. Most comic books are aimed at adults, although there is still a good selection of titles available for children and teenagers.

The purpose of promotions such as Free Comic Book Day is to get a new generation interested in reading comics, as the artform is facing the same problems as newspapers and magazines, dwindling circulation because people don't read anymore, especially children. It's hard to compete with video games and television.

Why is it that the same people who are too good to read comic books get excited about bad movie adaptions of those same comics? Some movies based on comics:

Ghost World
Road To Perdition
The Crow
Bulletproof Monk
Spider-Man
X-Men
Hulk
Daredevil
Blade
League of Extrodinary Gentlemen
Men In Black
The Mask
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Superman
Spawn
The Phantom
Mystery Men
Tales From The Crypt
Josie and the Pussycats
Dick Tracy
Conan
Red Sonja
Judge Dredd
Steel
The Rocketeer
Akira
Tank Girl

I guess if you play video games you also live with your mom.
I guess if you go see X-men 2 tomorrow you live with your mom.
I guess if you have to look at porn online instead of having a real naked chick then you live with your mom.

Grow up.

comic books are too demanding for me. i like the funnypages in the newspaper. That Family Circus is always good for a belly laugh with the hijinks them little kids get into plus I like to challenge myself and try that darn Jumble word game sometimes.

a few times I almost got em all right.

but if I was to buy a comic book it would be Sad Sack or Richie Rich.

I don't understand why some people have such hang ups about comics. They are great, they spark kids to start reading, they get the imagination working and why can't an adult enjoy letting their brain go into another world for a few minutes?

Must live with you mom? More like are some of the best people to be around as they tend to be those with the best imaginations and the all important sense of whimsy that so many up tight pricks lack.

I need to get my hands on some Ghost World stuff..I've never read them but the movie left be wanting more.

Both are no longer published. Sad Sack was always my dad's favorite. That and Hot Stuff.

Ghost World is a great graphic novel. It's quite different from the movie and also has a very different ending. The creator has done a lot of other good comics as well.

Nothing like spam. Do you think I own freecomicbookday.com or something? This is an annual event put on by the comic book industry. Millions of dollars worth of comic books are given away for free.
