When I first moved here rental units at a nice complex down the street were $1,600 a month, 10 years later the same unit is $2,500 a month.That is what people will assume but what actually happens is the cost of living goes up over night. Food costs, gas prices, rent all go up right away.

and that is just a wage hike...
Wages sure as fuck don't increase with the cost of housing or the cost of living, the middle class is almost completely gone because of corporate greed. Something has got to give soon and it will not likely be very good at all.Comment

Housing is part of ones cost of living and my post was about rent going up $900 in 10 years, wages staying stagnent, and the middle class diminishing. Out here you can count in rent being increased 10% a year like clockwork and it has nothing to do with property values, it's about greed.

If you give away money it will just devalue the currency by whatever portion of money supply it represents.
As well there is no guarantee it will be spent on bills or for anything practical.
In fact I feel if you gave everyone in the USA a million dollars today there would be a great many who would have blown through it by the weekend. There would also be those few who would double it. Poverty will never be fixed by throwing money at it, it's more complicated than that.Comment
