The latest I heard is that this is not only economically difficult, but technologically as well. Logically (not saying I'm an expert in the field), the hardest part is creating the sensor model. Considering the fact that computing power is exploding and getting cheaper by the millisecond, it may one day become affordable. Don't know if I'll be alive when that happens but the dream will not fade. "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" |

That is why we try to offer both, videos and stills. They complement eachother well (and vidcaps do not qualify as stills!). |

It's not just video even but we're going to see a day when essentially we get interaactive television. Imagine viideo on demand of all your favorite TV shows (they just get posted at their live run time) and being able to choose your own camera angle and to see extras and to maybe respond to a commercial right there or get more info on the product in the commercial... This is where things are going. |
I prefer pictures of video,,
Ok so I am weird |
Mark your last post popped a memory into my head - being able to interact with commercials.
There was a little product introduced... oh, maybe 2 years ago now? That did just that. Copycat or Cybercat or something? It was like a pen (shaped like a stretched out cat) that had an infrared serial bar reader in the end. Attached to your computer via serial port. When you flipped through a magazine and saw an ad or article that you liked that had the cat symbol and bar code, you could simply scan the code with your little cat-mouse thingee and your browser would automatically open up and go to that company's site. It also had a microphone, and it listened when you were watching tv. Commercials that were cat-enabled would put out a little sound - unnoticable to you - that the cat would pick up, and again it would pop open your browser and take you right to that company's web page. Interactive commercials, indeed. It was all the talk for about two months and then died out. I guess the makers didn't truly realize that people DON'T like advertising - especially not enough to interact with it! 5 years down the road video will probably be king of the hill, but pictures won't be *that* far behind. Just knocked off of their post a bit. No amount of video can replace one great picture. Video makes you lazy, takes care of everything for you... with a picture, your imagination is seeded but it's not spoonfed. You can still create a fantasy around that picture and fully experience that fantasy uninterrupted. Can't do that with video. Video has its definite advantages - directing the action, being right there *live* with the girl and chatting with her, interaction... and there will be a point where if you don't have video on your site you may as well not open it... but still photographs will never go away and there will always be a steady demand for them. Now think of the movie Demolition Man where Sandra Bullock puts on that little skullcap thing and is instantly transported into a sexual fantasy with full sensory overload... THAT would kill online porn. :glugglug |
Carrie great post but I have to say you take porn way to seriously :)

:winkwink: My point is that cable/DSL/Broadband internet is getting cheap. Some I have seen are as cheap as dial up. True! Oz |

Also, 50 years out hopefully this great board will be archived somewhere where we can all look back and laugh together at all the crazy antics that go on here. Like hey Fletch remember when that guy AMP freaked that you were only a few hundred posts behind him and he went post crazy. And hey remember when people used to pay $39.95 a month to look at bunch of pictures on those big bulky monitors. :1orglaugh |

We developed one of the first interactive tv commercial concepts. We did a Santa Clause 900 line. The commercial instructed the kids to pickup the phone receiver and hold it near the TV speaker and Santa will dial you right to the North Pole. When the kids did that the commercial played the DTMF tones to connect the 900 call into the earphone and it worked. You wouldn't believe how many kids called using the TV sounds. But it didn't last long, cause we were buried with complaints from angry parents. But it worked liked crazy while it lasted. |

I don't want to be in business 5 yrs from now or even 4 years from now. I plan on sunning my big fat white ass on the beach anyplace in the world because: a. I planned for it 25 yrs ago. b. I retired rougly 10 years ago Everything else is just gravy. I don't give a rats ass if the whole internet disappears tomorrow, it might be a blessing in disguise for all the moronic idiots who were foolish enough to think they could live off the web without planning for their families future. Most don't even have insusrance. Everything I have is and has been paid for for years and I built everything by myself so have to answer to no one but god. I'm totally not worried about it either way because it is my faith in god that has enabled me to do the incredible things I've been able to do.. and will continue to do.. as my faith in him is unshakeable. Have you already got your future retirement taken care of dude? |
yes dokk my brother, God is guiding you in your porn endeavours lol

Unless you have not planned for the future. I retired over 9 yrs ago, am having a blast and can assure you that I am never bored. Since you seem to be an expert I'm assuming you are retired, bored and in very bad health. Am I reading this right? Otherwise you're a moron. Three words: PLAN FOR FUTURE. |
it seems harder and harder mark,
you and i have talked before i try to keep a low-profile i guess i'd love to stay in the biz if the money was still good but it seems harder... |

ooh. how did i miss this gem?

It's already been taken care of, all he has to do is just wait. Anywhere, doesn't matter, he doesn't have to even move from his chair if he chooses to do so. So don't worry.. it's not really a gem, just somebody trying to score some points by trying to make himself look like a total idiot.. gotta give him credit for that.. but still... it's already been handled so Kman.. you don't even have to respond. Just hang out do whatever the fuck it is you normally do, I have no idea, I'll just guess you jack off to your own pics. Anyway.. it's done and over on my end so I don't have anything else to worry about, Case closed. Gem Over. At least he can't say I didn't warn him. ;-)) |

I'm really sorry you made me do that to you but it's too late to do anything about it now other than the help i've offered. Again, I do apologize.. once the order goes out and he leaves there's only one person that can stop him and you haven't asked me to.. so I don't think I have to. Best of luck, and I really mean that. ;-( |

People will interact with ads when it's part of the simple system they all have going already. |
I see you flipping to a site, and it will be about like a 3 minute infomercial instead of a tour.
Probably trying to convince you why you need to have access to the members area, much like now, but sexier, more subliminal stuff. JMO, AST |
Basically to be a millionaire in 5 years, start making TGP's now. Make 3 TGP's each day and hire high school kids to manage trades for each of them. When their TGP's get big enough they can start hiring their friends and we'll all make money. Big big money. Best thing is that everyone can do this! The market will never be saturated!

Take out the traffic and people will still find us. Or are you claiming, Traffic = Surfers? |
Exactly. Why make a sales pitch that's just pictures and text when you can make a live motion and perhaps interactive commercial instead? If pictures and text worked better, then TV commercials would be just a screen of that for 30 seconds.
We'll go with whatever people respond to if we want to make money. So that's part and parcel to my point. I'm not saying pictures and text will go away completely, but I am saying that if you want to make good money, you'll have to be prepared to present something much more TV-like. That's why I'm spending my time learning Lightwave and getting into video editing (nod to Nysus for pushing me on that one). Quote:

About 15 years ago I was selling pictures via the post. Then I shot some videos and started to sell them to the same mailing list.
10 years later I still had guys that wanted to buy pictures and of course still selling to magazines. Why is simple. Some guys find it easier to jerk off and fatasize to a picture than a video. Some find it the other way around. Telephone sex is still selling, even when you can log on and see the girl for real on Live Web Cam. Magazines still sell in an age where we are close to beaming full screen video to their screens. The two will always be part of the porn industry. |
If it goes heavily over to video the problem for most of the present webmasters is.
Few will have access to the quality video needed to entice surfers. Producing good video is a nightmare and requires a lot of money, crew and experience. I don't see Vivid, Hustler, Private, Anabolic and the rest giving up these rights for $100 a movie. So a lot of the present webmasters will be left with old footage and stuff that guys with little talent produce. So unless a lot of the present webmasters are going to be publishing yet another newbie shooter getting a BJ from some dumb chick he picked up from an ad. You had better start looking very closely at what to do next. Sorry but if the Internet goes video trust me that is exactly what the video porn business is preying for. |
