In my experience, it's not correct to think that Texas is a backwards conservative state.

Sure, a lot/most of rural Texas is conservative, but the population centers/huge cities are very democrat.

It says a lot that the corruption is so bad in Texas that 5 of 6 "elected" congressional representatives in liberal Austin are Republican.

The corruption in North Carolina is even worse.

I think it's much much worse today. Then, it was "George Bush fucked it up, but here's a better way to do it!" and we could discuss and debate that. It was also very simple, single fuckups that tanked their popularity - a war or "read my lips, no new taxes etc". Today we're supposed to be outraged by the colors of their socks or called a Nazi for asking "is aiplanesexual really a gender".

There's no more discussion or debate. You know what happened man. We were in junior high when the paddles came down from above the blackboard.
