I don't think he can control himself. Once he starts acting you, he then tries to defend it,... which creates a situation where he has to keep defending it or be seen for what he is. Then it starts getting sillier and sillier.

What interests me sometimes that he defaults to the same tactics over and over and over as a response... seemingly with no self awareness.... even as it's being pointed out.

MaDalton does the exact same thing. He insults people, their views, their beliefs, their country etc., let's it be known that he's morally superior and then starts getting super pious and announces that he's got better things to do rather than to "be attacked" because he just wants to "discuss the issue" once he gets called out for it and he wanders off.

At least he has the self control and self restraint to walk away from a losing position and what he instantly realizes is a failed position.
