    I wiped out surfing the Wedge on Saturday.

    Broke my olecranon completely off, fully displacing it. emergency surgery Saturday to cut through my tricep to retrieve my elbow and reattach it, it was up near my armpit.

    I've been surfing this spot for years, the waves were more intense than usual late last week due weather conditions, we stayed out till the end but i got washed around pretty good.

    12 screws and a 7" long plate to put it all back together.

                                      When the waves get big, the force chucking you into the seabed is massive.

                                      I've eaten sand on numerous occasions.
                                      If it had been rocks on the bottom, I'd have no teeth.

                                              Holy crap, man! That sucks - fell off my bike on the beach last week, couple scrapes and it still hurts - LOL. This looks considerably worse so hope and what passes for prayers and all that coming your way...

                                                          Damn 12 screws is a lot.. I'm surprised you can bend your arm like that or is that how they have it set?

                                                          I also have a hurt elbow but nothing so dramatic.. mine in elbow bursitis. I did end up in the hospital with it for a few days due to it becoming infected...

                                                                                          yup. I've had some rough tumbles there too. This was just a 1 in a 1000 tumble, maybe I was a little too tired to be out. we did wait till after the weather event passed but it's still the Wedge.

                                                                                          I guess i'll have some time to ponder paddling back out or not. Doctor said I should be fine, maybe lose some range of motion.

                                                                                                              Mine they kept me in the hospital for 3 days tied to an IV getting antibiotics every 4 hrs. They did a blood test each day to sort of fine tune the antibiotics then gave me a prescription that I'm still taking now. Like 2 pills 4 times a day till I run out of them.

                                                                                                              They were being a little aggressive as they were worried at 1st is was mrsa but ended up being just a normal infection.
