Yes, I will get back to you about the bobber. It works great on the flats too. Yea, snook season ended at midnight last night. I have some spots that you catch noting but big ones. The only problem is it's around structure and you get broken off quite a bit. they will be there until the water warms a little more then they will head out to the beach to spawn. Later in the month I will be on the beach at sun up sight casting to them. You can snorkel in schools of them in 2 ft. of water. I love the beach snook fishing down in Venice.

Yes I know the area well. I gre up in St. Pete but I have lived in Sarasota, Bradenton, and Venice. It depends on what you are looking to spend as to what beach you could live on. There are high dollar places such as Longboat Key but you can find really affordable in places like Anna Maria, Holmes Beach, and I think Siesta Key. But Venice is actually cheaper than most because it's not a big city.

Funny how groups like that develop their own little culture. After I caught that bass I was treated like fucking royalty for weeks on end. When I walked down the pier people would point me out to their non-regular friends, I'd hear "Thats the guy who got the bass!" behind my back, I didn't have to pay for beer anymore, people would offer me their chairs, pester me for fishing advice, all kinds of stuff.

Thats so true about the pier culture. Some of those people practically live there. When I was a kid I was a pier rat. I knew everybody there. Yea, when you catch a monster at the pier like you did the word gets around for quite awile that your the MAN and your treated with respect. Oh the good ole days. Spending the summer on the pier without a worry in the world.
