The coolest thing I got for the apocalypse is this Saberlight Sparq XL Triple Beam Plasma Lighter from Amazon. It's the strongest Arc lighter in existence. It charges or via USB or via my portable pocket solar panels. It's on sale now with a $2 coupon for $14.95

I love this thing! I paid full price before I might get another to just two to have around the house.

if they actually make those and they're reasonably priced, I'll buy at least a case of them! and a john oliver t-shirt.

earthquake/emergency supplies are notoriously expensive and expire, but living in CA, required. A 30 day meal kit for 4 people is very expensive no matter where you buy it. And horrible food too and never exactly right. We put our own earthquake kit together searching out each and every bit of it to get exactly what we want. from an emergency radio charged via hand crank to various methods of making sure we have potable water. And a first aid kit that is fully loaded.

oh, and actually we buy our disposable washcloths at sam's club.
