    News Multiple injuries reported after pedestrians struck by van in Toronto

    A number of injuries are being reported after pedestrians were struck by a white van in Toronto, police say.

    Toronto police said the incident happened around 1 p.m. on Monday in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue.

    “Reports were that a white van mounted the curb, drove down the sidewalk at southbound Yonge, south of Finch, and struck eight to 10 people possibly, the numbers aren’t confirmed yet,” Toronto police spokesperson Gary Long told Global News.

    Police said between eight and 10 people have been injured. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

    Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a brief statement Monday afternoon in response to the incident.

    “We’re just learning about the situation in Toronto now. Our hearts go out to anyone affected,” he said.

    “Obviously we’re going to have more to learn and more to say in the coming hours.”

                                  Eventually we need to block access to any pedestrian paths and sidewalks. My local city did this here with the main city park located outside of town hall. They put in these concrete barriers to prevent cars from entering the park itself. It's where they have events so it makes sense.

                                                                                          Getting conflicting reports on whether it was a gun. It looked like he was trying to do a quick-draw on the cop with something black in his hand. Footage was taken from a distance and hard to see clearly.

                                                                                              We lived in a condo right above the Yonge/Sheppard subway years ago. Used to drink at the Black Sheep bar across the street. I know the area quite well, too.

Christian, so while the modus operandi would fit vehicular Jihad, an Islamic influence is unlikely unless this would be a convert or with roots in the Armenian diaspora in Turkey or Iran.

                                                                                                                                                                          Wonder what happened to the idea that media was going to refuse to print/publish the name of the perpetrators in crimes such as this to avoid aggrandizing and glorifying their infamy.

                                                                                                                                                                          We know the terrorist's name, what schools he attended...etc.

                                                                                                                                                                          But haven't heard a single name of the victims yet.

                                                                                                                                                                              They released 1 name, I imagine they need to make sure all next of kin are advised before it gets released of course.

                                                                                                                                                                              The mainstream media is playing views chicken. One or two need to step up and sacrifice ratings for the sake of doing what's right. I know a lot of podcasts and online news outlets have decided to set the standard and not mention names for the reasons you mentioned. The rest are still ratings whores and can't say no.

More importantly, the accused was a Elliot Rodger fan, writing about him on his FB page. It's likely this was a crime by a woman hater and a not religious extremest. We'll see.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  Yup, people want to yell about Muzzies at all opportunities and ignore another real problem that is home grown. Disenfranchised white beta males who now feel like it's up to them to initiate the beta uprising. There have been quite a few incels who have done this, some not as vocal about being incels as this guy and Elliot but I am sure some of the school shooters were incels.
