"Elementary School Knife Attack
SAUK RAPIDS, Minn. — On Monday morning an 8-year-old student arrived to school at Pleasentview Elementary School armed with a knife. The student attacked three other students, consequently sending two of them to the hospital.
According to Sauk Rapids Police Chief Perry Beise, the children suffered “superficial wounds to the backs of their heads that needed to be stitched up.”
Nobody else had been seriously injured. The victims of the attack are currently out of the hospital and are at home recovering.
Authorities say that at around 7:15am the student suspect brought a kitchen knife from his house and “randomly” slashed at three other students. The three student victims were 8, 9, and 13 years old. The students who were injured were taken to St. Cloud Hospital by their parents. They were treated for their wounds and released.
Chief Beise says after stabbing the three victims, the student suspect went to the school’s office and surrendered the knife.
The 8-year-old suspect was taken into custody by the Sauk Rapids Police Department. Considering his age, he was then released to his parents."
