    News Arrested For ... Being Black?

    Black Men Arrested For ‘Trespassing’

    The video says it all. Sadly, if two white guys were sitting and waiting for someone, nothing would have been said.

    Part of me understands you can’t just sit and not order but a bigger part feels “we’re waiting for someone” means give them twenty minutes or so and explain that loitering isn’t allowed. You need to order to sit here.

    It was handled wrong by a prejudiced person.

    This should be on the front page of every newspaper and news site, as well as tv news. People think black people bring this on themselves by acting ‘gangsta’, but this shows that discrimination and pre-conceived notions exist and isn’t just in the minds of people.

          I watched the second video. It’s horrible to see how these men were treated.

          “According to Ross, police “politely” asked the pair to leave several times and they continued to refuse and behaved rudely toward the officers. The officers, he said, did everything right.”

          I saw the men talking, not loudly, no hand gestures, seemingly politely speaking to the police.

          I emailed Holly Hylton’s boss and requested termination of employment. I expressed my anger and said if I were black, I’d boycott Starbucks. Hell, I’m white and would boycott if one were in my area, I said.

          Police always say there’s backtalk and threats and gestures. Here is proof that there are two sides to a story.

          Be honest — if you read this story but didn’t see the videos— would you assume guilt solely based on color? I’d bet 75% would say yes if truly honest.

          This story touched me deeply as it shows how we’re influenced by the media to believe ALL people of certain ethnicity or religions are always guilty.

          It makes you think.

              The manager asked them politely to leave and they didn't.

              The cops asked them to leave and they refused.

              They got arrested.

              Don't disobey an order from a cop or you'll get arrested.

              For all we know they are probably a couple crack dealers.

              There's always more to these stories.

                  I went into a KFC in the hood a few weeks ago and tried to use the restroom. They said I need to buy something because it's for paying customers only. I bought a soda and took a piss. These idiots obviously caused enuff of a commotion so that the manager called the cops on them.

                  If you act like a jerk and the cops come, either leave or get arrested. Of course now everyone is screaming racist!

                  It's bunch of bullshit.

                      the difference is at kfc they offer food too. Thes guys were simply waiting for a friend to buy a coffee. If you were at a restaurant and ordered food and ate half of it while waiting for others to show up it would be rude. The key thing missing was it 15-20 mins or an hour?

                      I would never go into this starbucks if it was in my area.

                                              Yes, the stores are “community” hubs, where people often drop in to use the WiFi or chat with friends without necessarily ordering anything.
                                              But, they where asked to leave the shop, they were not complying and got arrested for “defiant trespassing.”

                                              If a cop tells you to leave because the shop wants you out, you leave.

                                                              Yeah but what does it matter? The store policy is the bathroom is for paying customers only. No purchase, no bathroom. MY guess is they asked to use the bathroom and were told this. Then they got pissed and probably got flip with the manager. Manager tells them to bounce. They cause more of a scene and the manager calls the cops. Of course being an ignorant piece of shit it's no surprise they don't obey the cops and get arrested.

                                                                              Yeah but I can't really make out what they are saying. I assume the cops are asking them to leave for about 6 minutes. Near the end where the white guy is asking why they have to leave, like right before they get arrested, you can see the manager come over and start to explain why.

                                                                              I would love to hear what the manager would have to say. I guarantee it's a different story.

                                                                              Also, what do you think white people never get kicked out for loitering? This must be a slow news day for them to pick this up.

                                                                                      They weren't loud. They weren't arguing. They weren't doing anything but waiting for a friend. You can hear people there tells the cops that they were just sitting there. How were they rude to the cops? No raised voices, no gestures, no faces. Even when arrested, they quietly complied. No arguing or yelling, just compliance.

                                                                                      If there were anything done wrong, the court would have been told. The judge saw the videos, ruled no evidence, and dismissed the case. If they rudely refused to comply, the judge would have been informed.

                                                                                      They refused to leave because they did nothing wrong. They were meeting a friend for coffee. Instead they issued an apology fast. PR against losing customers, sure, but the spin could have been that we didn't hear their words or see their actions beforehand.

                                                                                          Crack dealers? They calmly and quietly stood up to be handcuffed. No arguing, just compliance. Crack dealers would have caused a ruckus, screaming and carrying on. They were too calm to be high. But you assume crack dealers because of their color! Gang colors weren't there. No facial gang tattoos. No hands in pockets to hide drugs. Just two black guys meeting a friend for coffee.

The manager never claimed they did anything but ask for the restroom and refuse to leave. NO mention of rudeness, threats or bad behavior. Both videos showed reactions and if they mouthed off at the cops, they'd have been cuffed in a different manner, not quietly.

                                                                                                  They were too calm! Seriously, I'd have argued since I did nothing wrong. They were smart enough to know that arguing is senseless and to remain calm and non-threatening.

                                                                                                                                                      Unlike you, I've never been told I can't use the restroom anywhere in America, or abroad, so look in the mirror and ask yourself what you can do so people won't reject you from using their toilet.                                                                                                                                                                                   Oh, for those who felt that Huff Post or NY Post is making this up or unreliable, it was a headline on the Washington Post yesterday. Google showed dozens of newspapers carrying the story prominently and websites by the dozens featured this story.

                                                                                                                                                                                  Earlier today I saw NBC News doing a long story and many commented that the young men were polite, quiet, and complied politely.

                                                                                                                                                                                  When I was a young teen, I went with my grandparents to Burger King. Nana asked for the bathroom and they said it was for customers only. She argued she was a customer but hadn’t ordered yet. I ordered for her while Mom took her to the bathroom. I questioned why this happened and Mom said only customers can use the bathroom as it costs money for water, toilet paper, soap, cleaning person, etc. I asked if daddy let people use his bathroom in his store and she said no. I understood the reasoning but if you have to go badly, you go then order. Little old ladies aren’t likely to leave a mess, steal toilet paper or run out the door. Then I got older and realized they DO cause issues at times.

You never have change. There’s no toilet paper after you’ve paid. If a roll of it falls on the floor and is thrown away, they lose money due to the costs of water, soap, etc.
                                                                                                                                                                                  lSomeday it won’t be a quarter but a buck to use the bathroom. If I have to pay a buck to pee, I’m gonna use tons of paper, wash every body part I can with soap and hot water, dry off with tons of paper towels AND grab some toilet paper to take home to wipe spills, my windshield, my fenders and anything else I can clean;)

                                                                                                                                                                                                      The guys were obviously in the wrong, it's common sense. It has nothing to do with racism. They love this kind of stuff to happen so they can claim the racist card, that's why the refuse to go so they hope the cops will be aggressive and they can get their 15 minutes of fame. Anyone with common sense would have just ordered a drink and/or leave.
