When the President and gov. officials do not lead , corporations show the way ...

Not sure why you are asking me a biased and rather unintelligent question like that.

But since you did I will try my best to explain it to you:
Walmart (and any other corporation) is NOT "leading the way" on anything.

They are succumbing to organized pressure from a small group of people who claim to represent the majority of people.

It's called making a BUSINESS decision. They are weighing what they can get from positive news coverage on CNN VS a possible backlash from people who don't appreciate having their constitutional rights taken from them.

It's theoretically the PEOPLE "leading the way". Whether that turns out to be real or not...we shall see.

If it garners them more money from a good PR perspective...then they will continue it.
If it costs them money and causes them a problem financially they will stop it.

It's not hard to figure out. It's how everything in the real world really works.

I still have to question HOW you can deny a citizen their Constitutional rights. And "no", it's already been proven in courts that you can NOT deny selling something to someone based on age, religion, sexual preference, race, etc.
So that may turn out to be quite interesting if someone brings a case to court.

The only way that I personally think Walmart can do this would be to stop selling guns completely.
If you aren't going to sell them to every legal adult, then you are better off just dropping the product.

But again...it's all about the money. As it should be for any business.

An example of not selling to a certain group:

A lot of hardware, general store refuse to sell aerosol paint to teenagers ( graffiti ) ....

Never heard of that before...BUT, having said that...if the teenagers are UNDER 18 then the store can get away with that.

If it were LEGAL ADULTS then there might be a problem there for them.

That was my point that you are missing...EVERY citizen of LEGAL AGE has civil rights. And the courts have ruled over and over that you can't refuse them service based on who they are.

Now stores do have signs that say "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone"...but the courts have said time and again that there is no such "right" that supersedes our civil rights as citizens of the United States.

I don't know if anyone will even challenge it or not. But I do believe that IF they did take Walmart to court and approached it from a Constitutional direction...it would be an interesting court case.

The best way to "solve" this supposed "problem" is to raise the legal age to 21 to be an adult.

I think it's stupid myself...but it just makes sense legally to do so. I don't see how you can say an 18 year old ADULT is LESS protected by our Constitution than a 21 year old ADULT.

See what I'm saying?
