There are 93 countries with murder rates higher than the US - most of them far higher. But you conveniently missed those.

And if you took gang related murders out of the equation the US would be in line with most countries in Europe.

Trying to guard everything everywhere is just fucking stupid. It's like trying to stop lighting from striking.

and do we want to live in a country with barbed wire, concrete barriers and armed guards everywhere? This is the politics of fear your side tries to sell. Fuck off with your silly, backwards ass ideas.

The common denominator in all of these attacks is assault rifles, but the solution is to lock everything down. Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit you illiterate mongoloid.

You can't go "much" lower than 4.88. At least not to the same degree as the ones that are "much" higher.

Name one country with the gang, drug and violence culture that the US has - glorified in song, movies and popular culture.

And FYI - it's not my country. I live in Canada not the US.

And I can cherry pick whatever the fuck I want. Every single one of your comments on this board is based on your all consuming hatred for the US and therefore are nor rationally formed.

And it's not really the exact same rifle as the M16A2 is it? You feel that the selector switch is a minor difference but in reality that selector switch is the difference between semi-automatic and fully-automatic. And it's not as simple as just having a selector switch - there are other mechanical differences that allow automatic firing.

What you are really advocating is banning semi-automatic rifles of all types - including hunting ones because they can be used in the exact same fashion as an AR15.

FYI - we have pretty strict gun laws in Canada but you can still buy semi-auto hunting rifles and yes you can even buy an AR15 and similar guns. Can you buy them as easily? No not a chance. But people do have them.

I'm not really arguing either in favour or against guns. I think the US definitely has a problem on its hands. But you have to admit the media is twisting the facts about the argument that is occurring.

It's like putting a speed limiter on a Ferrari limiting the car to 100 mph and saying it's no longer a sports car. Of course it's still a sports car.

How fast a rifle shoots doesn't determine if it's an assault rifle or not.

What makes it an assault rifle is what it was designed to do. An AR15 wasn't designed for hunting, and it wasn't designed for target practice. It was designed to assault a position and kill people.

We sold a nineteen year old kid a rifle with the ability to shoot hundreds of rounds per minute. How is this legal?

Well if you exclude the gang murders in other countries like Mexico they would have a very very low murder rate as well...but you do not get to cherry pick days...reality is reality...

An unmodified AR15 cannot shoot hundreds of rounds per minute. It can only fire as fast as you can pull the trigger and even a pro would have a hard time getting into the hundreds.

                https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_rifle

The U.S. Army defines assault rifles as "short, compact, selective-fire weapons that fire a cartridge intermediate in power between submachine gun and rifle cartridges."[16] In a strict definition, a firearm must have at least the following characteristics to be considered an assault rifle:[2][3][4]

It must be capable of selective fire.

It must have an intermediate-power cartridge: more power than a pistol but less than a standard rifle or battle rifle, such as the 7.92×33mm Kurz, the 7.62x39mm and the 5.56x45mm NATO.
Its ammunition must be supplied from a detachable box magazine.[5]
It must have an effective range of at least 300 metres (330 yards).
Rifles that meet most of these criteria, but not all, are technically not assault rifles, despite frequently being called such.

                For example:

Select-fire M2 Carbines are not assault rifles; their effective range is only 200 yards.[17]
Select-fire rifles such as the FN FAL battle rifle are not assault rifles; they fire full-powered rifle cartridges.
Semi-automatic-only rifles like the Colt AR-15 are not assault rifles; they do not have select-fire capabilities.
Semi-automatic-only rifles with fixed magazines like the SKS are not assault rifles; they do not have detachable box magazines and are not capable of automatic fire.

But whatever. It's all semantics at this point even if the media and its followers are spreading misinformation. It's what they do best.

I am talking about about street corner gang bangers and wannabes. Not organized crime cartels - that's something different.
