Well considering that the US has 100 million more people than all of those countries combined we can expect that the absolute number of mentally ill people in the US will be higher - with increased risk of one of them snapping.
Besides, guns are plentiful enough in all of those countries that anyone who really wanted to could get their hands on them. I know guys here that have several guns including an AR-15 - all legal.
And if stats are your thing then consider this:
Plus there are cultural differences to consider. Americans like their guns for killing. Canadian killers like to torture and mutilate their victims as is the case with that current investigation into the gay serial killer with six bodies uncovered so far.

Agreed! So the very first thing the US should do is ban people who are mentally ill from being able to buy or own or carry a gun. That would be a GREAT first step, except that Trump made it EASIER for mentally ill people to buy guns by the way. So much for that idea.

I may have to rethink this one. The kid obviously had some mental problems. That everyone can agree. Apparently he lost both his father and his mother (her only last year) So he's got issues that needed to be dealt with there in itself. I haven't looked up any voting stats but considering Broward County (Ft Lauderdale) is right outside of Miami it's pretty safe to assume that area is very liberal. Now lets say he was a Trump supporter. Compound all the hate being spewed in the media from the left towards Trump supporters on to everything else he's going through and you have a ticking time bomb created by that environment. "Everyone predicted it" says student. School super "there were no warning signs" Despite the fact he wasn't allowed a backpack on campus because they found shell casings in his backpack..
