South Africa is actually a very interesting topic. It was, at one point, one of the most developed countries in the world, with its own space program, advanced infrastructure, and a stable economy. It was in fact the only country in Sub-Saharan Africa that was able to sustain a modern economy post 1960.

What not that many know is that the original lands, first colonized by the Dutch in the 17th century (who later became the Afrikaaners) were almost inhabited. The sole purpose of the first settlement of the Cape of Good Hope was to establish a small colony that could be used by the crews of the ships on their way to and back from Java. With more expansion, these later encountered Hotentots. However, the influx of most of the African, Bantu population didn't happen until much later.

After the British take over of the Cape Town at the end of the 18th century, slavery was abolished. The Afrikaaners fled into the inlands to establish their own independent enclaves. The discovery of Gold in these later led to the Boer War, the Brits invaded, the Boers were outnumbered and defeated in a horrific fashion. As a consequence, many of the impoverished Boers fled their farms to the majority British, big cities. The "xenophobia" article - this was written by Jan Culik, who's a professor at a Scottish university (an academic and an outsider), by all counts an intelligent man. He runs what used to be sort of an alternative online magazine. A couple years ago I used to read it regularly, there was some interesting info, even about science etc. Up until he engaged full blown social justice warriors to contribute there.

The magazine went completely unhinged into a full pro-refugee, pro-uncontrolled migration, extreme anti-Trump derangement syndrome. Labeling every and any opposing view as "racist" "xenophobic" "stupid" etc. etc. It also featured pretty much any and every example of what was proved to be fake news peddled by the establishment "news" outlets such as NY Times (removing the bust of MLK from the oval office, fake "leaked" memo about the fact that the refugees contribute "billions" into the US economy etc.).

I even once wrote an article to be published there, refuting some of the one-sided, ill-informed claims, it was even well sourced - of course it was rejected, and that even in a very rude fashion. Should tell you a thing about how these "diversity" advocates care about the "diversity" of views.

As an example, the views presented in his online magazine are entirely in line with the extreme ideology of letting everybody in and then blame everybody else but those that came in for their failure to integrate into a first world society. The magazine, however, also recently lost about 80 pct. of its monthly page views so it appears I wasn't the only one to notice its shift towards a truly hysterical bias.

While it's true there has always been a strong nationalist presence in the country, and it didn't always manifest in a nice fashion, it also enabled to preserve the character and identity of the country for the years to come. Culik's views are truly masochistic towards the country that gave him his heritage and education.

All in all, at the end of the day, what I care the most about is that this homogenous country is one of the safest in the world (rated no. 6 I guess), has a high level of education (something like no 13 in the world I believe), and a high level, affordable healthcare. And I certainly do enjoy living in a country where you can let girls or women walk home at 2 AM without having to worry that they will get robbed or raped, and where you won't get persecuted by police for being "politically incorrect" on the web.
