The Doors

Just went to see The Doors last night at the Oakdale in Connecticut. What an INSANE concert. They played SO well. Any old or new doors fan would have an awesome fuckin time at this show... Check the tour dates, if they are even remotely close to you, go out of your way to get there. Feeling the pain from the brews now though, let me tell ya.

Jim Morrison's parents are sueing the band for using copyrighted poems of Jims in the tour.

There was an article on the Google new a week or so ago. I believe it also said something about Copeland suing for being dropped from the band.. Don't know if that is true

geez what a mess... and this for a band that probably never should have gotten "back together" (and I really use that loosely) in the first place.

Manzeric and Krieger must be hard up for cash.

The Doors was Morrison, 99%. Those other guys could have been anyone.

Here it is

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...oors_lawsuit_1

I am guessing it's the Morrisons' attorney or Jim's siblings since the parents must be in their 80s

I didn't like it as much as when I saw it the first time.

Man that guy was fucked up.

I'd love to see that.. I have a DVD with Ian Astbury singing lead on a few songs, he sounds very good on that, the striking thing was how good that the band sounded

There was some wrangling with the former drummer, as he was unable to tour, and they were to have used the ex police drummer, is that who was playing?

I am jealous as hell that you saw them,

could it be that the band is and will be AS GOOD AS JIM was a signer?

John Densmore is a trained jazz drummer. Hard to fuck with.

Robbie Kreiger one of the finest pickless guitarists in the rock world. Again, Jazz influenced musicians are hard to fuck with.

Ray, check out X and his other PUNK contributions. Manzarek is the man.

Jim was great but never knock the band, jim was NOT THE ONLY door, without the others there would have never been a Doors, jim would have been drunk or on acid and done nothing, he dropped out of the UCLA film school to do drugs, keep that in mind.

the Doors band kicks ass without Jim.

have you ever heard the 'American Prayer album?' most of that was done AFTER he was dead, all the music is the Doors without jim ;)

I saw them on Leno after they got back together.

They sucked. Hard. They defiled the bands name.

They would have to get a lot better from that performance to not cause me pain listening to them.

I'd rather listen to Britney duetting with Garth Brooks.

Yeah you are absolutley right, often however, the lead vocalist is the most recognizable part of the band
some lead singers are so incredibly talented, that they pretty much make the group

Ian Astbury does a great job of not trying to be Jim Morrison, from what little I have seen, so far

and yes I would be beating down the door to get tickets if they came around this neck of the woods

so far I have still Moody blues and David lee roth to look forward to in the next little bit and we just finished seeing Bruce Springsteen and Joe Cocker in the past month or so... both were great

It just *isn't* the Doors without Jim. I'm sure it's a great concert and all, but it sounds more on the level of seeing a tribute band play. They can play the same songs just as well as the original members together but they'll never be able to create music in the same way.

My friend is part of the management team that reps ian Astbury. This could not have happend at a better time for him. I think it is nostalgic to see them on tour at best. For Ian it was time to cash a check for the Ray and Robbie i think it was a matter of "lets do it one more time make some cash and laugh our way to even more profit."

If you have never seen the cult you have misseda great era of Rock and Roll.

Pretty interesting for the parents to be suing considering the fact Jim once declared his parents as being dead..

All aboard the gravy train..

I have the box set, had it for a couple fo years now... Its pretty cool but if you have most of the studio albums you are not missing all that much...

Included is one live disk, and the other 3 are the bands favorite songs.

I like to see any band that is still out there doing it. Some have just gotten better. Styx, Kansas, Bad Company.....just come to mind that I have seen in the past 2 years that I had also seen 20 years ago.
