This will be interesting. Notice how they mention children moving things to the wrong place. Not just children. Adults move things around too, Unless they know someone is watching their every move. Big part of a grocery job is putting stuff back where it goes.

This could stop shoplifting, extreme couponing, and refund fraud. This could bring food prices way down. Unless Amazon destroys the competition and raises prices.

Interesting, I was using Amazon Fresh with great prices but they got rid of it in my small town

Thats the downside of Amazon, targeting the most populated areas (for financial reasons obviously). Prime is a good example, in the most populated areas it works and works well but in States like Maine, VT and NH it can take 4-5 days for deliverys with Prime and you can forget same day deliverys. But to be fare its not just Amazon. If you live in these states and want your fresh food delivered from online companies such as Plated HelloFresh, or Blue Apron no chance they just will not deliver to you !

That's the problem with Amazon, they price competition out, destroy them, then raise the price while decreasing quality of service.

Except that it's INCREASE the quality of service. When I go to the grocery store, the line is always 5-10 minutes long, even if I have 1 item and am in the speedy check-out line. The people behind the cash are just slow.

Also, the current automated tellers are even slower. You have to put the item down in a certain orientation to scan or or scan it with a wand, then pay by ATM, etc. It should be faster than a human but its strangely slower.

A good exception to this is Apple. You can walk into an Apple store, scan the items you want with your iPhone, and walk out. VERY fast. I suspect the Amazon experience will be faster.

Why not just automate the WHOLE MANUFACTURING/SHIPPING process? I see that as the future.
