Anyone gamble online?

I'm making more on William Hill casino than I am in porn. Nice setup if you play.

i used to gamble once in awhile when i was younger. now barely ever, i kind of find it boring these days.

for anyone in Canada, i played blackjack on the high limits table at the Baccarat Casino in Edmonton with Ralph Klein (the premiere of Alberta) a couple of years ago. it was fucking hilarious.

I cant believe anyone does gamble online. Just do alittle checking into the software monopoly that microgaming and the few others have coupled with all the betting taken place in Antigua and other 3rd world countries. It cracks me up the people that expect that million dollar payout from the progressive cherries they just sunk 500 bucks in. Hilarious to say the least. 50-100 bucks is one thing but fuck you think porn is full of scammers LOL Just doesnt make sense. There are a ton of articles not to mention court cases documented that shows how fuckin bad the software companies are. GOOD LUCK

Ah I see. I've done good with blackjack just goofing off but the money I am talking about is in poker. If a casino does in fact cheat they can't do it when you are only taking money from other players.

I know there are sites where you play with other people, you can even set it up to play with friends, and the site will take a small %.

Can't remember the URL, but it'd be cool to have some GFY poker games

There not real people man. CMON already. Ya they developed the software and financing and staffing so you can play with "real people" were the casino is not involved. Lets be real here folks. The online casino was my first venture and just snoop around the net and check them out. Anyone with any knowledge of the casinos would steer clear quickly. Its all documented court cases that are still in court now battling. SCAM big time. Ummm did you want to fly to Antigua to collect your 200.00 you won from Video poker. Fuck there are porn affiliate programs that have never paid webmasters and they are in our backyards.

nice.

this guy (Ralph) had a couple of body guards with him. he was completely tanked. they kept handing him $500-600 at a time, which would promptly lose. the dealer and i kept making quiet jokes as to where all our taxes were going.

he bought me a couple of drinks though, so who's to complain?

hehe, probably his girlfriend or some daughter because Connery has a short, ugly known painter as wife.

Sounds like you must have a bad experience. I've followed the online gaming scene closely the last 5 yrs. At one time I was heavily promoting them, but moved on to porn eventually. I play often and I can assure that the casinos I play at are not scams. By the tone of your posts it sounds like you are saying all online casinos are scams and don't payout. I made an extra 30k last year playing blackjack online, hell I made 7k with 2 casinos last week and just received my payout wire Friday. Its like anything online, do your research and deal with a reputable casino that has a history of payouts when you play.

Bad experience? Ya I guess. 75k or so. Not gambling. Business dealings about 3 yrs ago. I know exactly who you are talking about if they are major players. No, just like wine they are all not bad. That goes with anything in life. If you made 30k last year you will undoubtedly sink it right back in. Seeing as you play religiously. Playing right into the hands of the casinos. Make sure you tell us how much you lost in the last 5 years. As we all know the only good postings are when you win money. Let me know next week how much you sunk back in.

New research from Nielsen-Netratings reveals that 5.9 million Europeans visited online gaming sites in January 2003.

This is more than double the 2.8 million surfers who visited websites in this sector in January 2002

Ya they did, and also lost 5 times as much as the year before. AND your point is what? Just to clarify Lazycash's sentiment about the casinos being reputable. I never said the operators are shady. Its the software companies. Of which 4 control 85-90% of all casinos. Cryptologic,Boss Media,Microgaming and Starnet systems. Has anyone realized there is no such thing as a Random Number Generator? Jeeeez

You sound a bit jaded, sure you haven't had some big gambling losses? Between online gambling and vegas twice a month, I've been playing blackjack for 11 years. Sure I've had some bad losing sessions, but I've never finished a year with net gambling losses and I'm a freak about tracking my play. Regarding my last 5 years, I've netted 117k+ between gambling offline and online. I haven't paid for a meal or hotel room in 8 years going to Vegas. You can sit here and tell everyone that everybody loses eventually and that casinos are all scams, but its simply not true. I've got friends who do quite a bit better than I do in gambling.

The casinos prey on one simple factor, people don't stop gambling when they are up because "more is never enough". Obviously though, on the other end, people have to stop when they run out of money. This works even better with online casinos because people can sit and play in the luxury of their own home making it even harder to walk away. There is almost always some point where you are up in a gambling session, so why not leave at that point every session?

To demonstrate how serious discipline works, a buddy and I tried a test on a Vegas trip a couple of years ago. We started at one end of the strip and the goal was to just win $20 playing blackjack in 15 consecutive casinos. The rules were that we could wager any increments as long as when we reached $20 up we had to get off the table and wait for the other to reach it too and then move on to the other casino. After 3 hours, we had both won $300 ($20 from 15 casinos). We simply marched from one casino to the next and only gambled in each to the point where we were up $20, which mostly happened in the first ten min of each session. In only one casino did it look like the streak would stop as my buddy had to go down $300 to eventually come back to be $20 up. Long story short, being disciplined works and being a winner isn't that difficult. Most people however get consumed by greed and give any winnings right back to the casino because once again "more is never enough". This post isn't mean to toot my gambling horn, I just hate when I hear things like "you'll never win - the odds are way against you - you're throwing your money away etc...."

First of all, if they are going to "fuck" me they sure have enjoyed letting me win for 2 months. Aside from that I have played off and on at legitimate online casino's for a couple of years and haven't had any problems.

It's a second job to me. I make as much at the local casinos on blackjack as I do at my business. If you have a head on your shoulders and don't act an idiot like 99.9% of people gambling you can win regularly. I take it you suck ass at gambling.

Oh well, cheers.

Ok already the online casinos are legit. Lazycash, why are you not writing a book on how to win always "over time" If you are such the great gambler you will know the longer you play the more you lose. I dont give a fuck if you play for 5 minutes or 50 years. Your odds of coming out are beyond stacked against you. But then again most of the online casinos and vegas are built on winners. You guys crack me up. As for my 75k. It was in conjunction with Cryptologic. Which will gladly set up anyone a front door for 150k with processing in a 3rd world country. Degenerate gambler syndrom.

The part about "if you dont act like an idiot like 99.9% of people gambling you can win regularly" That is the biggest horseshit I have ever heard. Are you fuckin serious?? Dude only if you knew these software companies you would definately think twice. I have first hand dealings face to face with Crypto and Boss Media. Your lost IMHO

First off, I never claimed to be a "great gambler", I just hate when people throw out the classic casino death cliches that you seem to be throwing out in all of your posts. Second, I never said all online casinos were legit and I'm aware of some of the legal issues surrounding some of the software companies. The initial post simply asked if anyone gambles online and I'm sharing my experiences, which have been for the most part, positive. So you've had a bad experience with online gambling software companies, but have you gambled online and what has been your experience? From your posts it appears you haven't gambled much either offline or online and aren't real savvy on what the "odds" are. Yes I'm aware that a higher % of players lose than win and yes I know that for the most part the odds are slightly against me. Certainly if you have some inside knowledge as to what software will give us a better (fair) chance of winning, why not share it rather than putting down anyone who shares a positive gambling experience.

First off "odds slightly against you"? Your kidding right? Maybe I dig up some of the inter-office email from the companies I have dealt with. Ok so your assuming I sunk 75k into an offshore operation with no prior knowledge of gambling and the %'s and odds. You are quite wrong in that respect. As for a better software to point you to is impossible. Did you happen to know out of the 4 major software companies 2 of them are actually Husband and wife? I can t say on a public board who they are due to pending lawsuits I am involved with and many others also. I will retract the harsh sentiments but when people start with the online casino theories it pisses me off, cause I have been in the operating offices. I know the players who make the money and just how its done. Call me an ass, inexperienced what have you but I would highly suggest staying away from the online casinos. Nuff said. Good Luck

The odds slightly against comment was directed at simply the odds of blackjack and other casino games, not taking into consideration online software that can be manipulated. I think you've misread me as the majority of my posts are directed at gambling in general. I didn't post any online casino theories, you've done that. I simply replied to the intial post with my online casino experiences which for the most part have been positive. Not sure what you consider a big winner, I know i'm not a whale, but I don't consider my winnings bird feed either. I'm certainly not going to claim that no funny business goes on with respect to online casinos, and I think your suggestion to stay away from them is probably sound advice.

the odds are always against you, even though its pretty close to be even.. for example the game is designed to give back 98%, but since people keep playing when they win, and stop when they lose all their money, and they cant really play perfect games, the casino maybe ends up paying back only 60-70%...

but even if you play the perfect game in blackjack, the odds are still against you.. i attempted to write software for it, but there is really no way to make sure you're gonna win in the long run..

Dude only if you knew these software companies you would definately think twice. I have first hand dealings face to face with Crypto and Boss Media. Your lost IMHO
I could honestly give a rats ass about online casino's cheating or not. The one I am dealing with now is paying me and I'm cashing the checks. As for talking about not acting like an idiot gambling I was referring to actual casinos. Not some Korean software or whatever stupid shit you got tied up in.

I play at WilliamHill poker fairly often and am still very far ahead on the money front. The number1thumb guy is simply an idiot that knows a little but thinks he knows a lot.

So as with stocktrader, my experiences with WilliamHill have only been good but then they are a fully legit, VERY accountable, UK based company - not some shady setup on a remote island somewhere.

The funniest parts of this whole thread are where the twat keeps shouting about 'bots' run by the casino pretending to be people. 50% of my games tend to be on a table with people I KNOW playing against me - oddly enough not one of them on the few times we meet up has been made of metal. Strangely enough (according to the thumbs guy) as these are real people with a fairly good level of play I usually make far less than I do when I play against players I don't know. Now....you don't think that's possibly because they're clueless poker newbie types rather than bots? Nah...couldn't be
