Thanks. I never usually get nice toys at Xmas... It works really well. I can reach round and put it down in behind me, deep inside the bowl when I'm sat on the toilet ! Ideal

Have you had a chance to use it yet? Perhaps walking thru your village testing it out. Woukd love to see some footage with it.

How did it work? All you thought it would be?

50/50 mate. The gimbal itself is a quality purchase, but comes with a few unexpected problems. While the 'negatives' may seem longer than the positives, that's not strictly true as it works perfectly once you decide to use it, but its the bits when you are not shooting (Between Shoots and between shots) that let it down - I'll explain.

On the plus side it's easy to hold and has a huge charge (meaning you can use it as a spare battery if needed) and its extremely light. It works exactly as its supposed to do regarding stabilizing the camera, so can't fault it from that side at all, whatsoever

The negatives are that its somewhat fiddly to get the phone in (despite how easy it looks in the videos - But this could change with time) but extremely delicate when not in use. With it turned on, its 100% perfect, but once its turned off it goes very floppy and the phone needs to be removed straight away, to avoid possible damage to either the phone or the gimbal mechanism. Likewise if you want to put it down, you'll need to be extra careful so as to not damage it. A solution is to put a stand on the bottom, which alleviates those issues, however adds bulk and length to it.

Also, if I was going to take it out for the day, I would need to use the case for carrying it, set it up when I wanted to film, and disassemble for further carrying. I couldn't just set it up, chuck it on the seat of my car and whip it out when needed - Like you could a normal camera.

With that said though, its early days. My genuine intended use was for stabilising the camera when shooting the grandchildren and family stuff. I have not had the chance to do that yet. Coming from a background of normal shaped cameras, even back as far as super-8 cine cameras, I've always been used to a certain 'shape' in a camera. Using my phone in my hands is not intuitive and my fat fingers tend to touch the screen etc, so I was hoping for that problem to be alleviated - So far, so good.

The final negative though, is that in order to use certain controls (Zoom, stop start recording, take pics etc) from the controls on the gimbal, you need to be using an app, ZY PLAY, to be shooting with... While on a shitty phone, this could indeed actually improve the pic quality, on a decent phone, the quality is much lower than the inbuilt samsung software. So that's a shame, but not the reason I bought the gimbal anyway.

That said though it does work exactly as it should, and was cheap as chips for what it is, so my overall verdict's still out. I need access to the grandkids in the swing park for an hour or so, on a nice day, or something along those lines to really have a play with it and check it out, but thats my honest review atm
