Just what is the deal with Allwebsites?

Last night I posted this thread because my server had been hacked:

http://www.greenguyandjim.com/board/...=&threadid=523

I didn't even mention the name of my host because they were going to try and make up my losses with free hosting, so I want them to stay in business. Greenguy posted that it was Allwebsites.com a little ways down in the thread. No biggie, I wouldn't want anyone so sign up with them anyway.

Next thing I know I have been getting contacted by literally dozens of webmasters that have had the same nightmare type situations with these guys.

They are offering me free hosting and a ton of other stuff to make ammends for their massive fuck up, but I am beginning to feel like the owner (David Cruz) is bullshitting me. I don't want to get on a sinking ship again, but I do want to recover my losses. It seems to me it seems like getting the free hosting would be easier than a court battle, plus he's probably file bankruptcy to avoid paying.

So I'm asking you...what is the deal with Allwebsites?

I don't know anything about them, but its always wise to have hosting agreements with multiple carriers just in case something like this hack happens. Being in the SE business, we can't afford to have our sites down when GoogleBot comes by...

After reading your tour progress report, I'm left with one question.

Why the hell do you want to be in a band?

I learnt the hardway too, one of my sites was down on a virtual hosted account and when the deep crawl came by, guess who was down... ever since, dedicated servers on at least 2 providers now, can't afford to miss a deep crawl.

If you missed the google dance this time around because of this let me know your url and i'll link it up through one of the daily freshbots to add your site. Hate to see things like this happen to good people.

Hey everybody - I have started getting back on my feet. I have most of my sites back up in a skeletal form, at least.

A lot of pages I had rescue from the Google cache, so there may be link trades that some of you guy did with me that got lost in the mix. I will honor all trades. If you think you have a trade that is missing, hit me at [email protected] and I will get to them as soon as I can.

I am working with two other people round the clock to get up and running again. I am sorry for the inconvience it may have caused some of you.

It seems that my problems were caused by an incompetent network administrator who wiped out my whole box. I am in the process of implementing a backup system where I will be able to be up and running within 48 hours, so we will not have to endue this again!
