Selling Your Exit Traffic?
I posted this at another board. Thought it might do some good here.
I think that people should REALLY look hard at the business they are doing. Be suspicous, don't trust anyone - it's your money that you're playing with. Mabye for some it's just beer money, but for others, it's a living. I ran stat calculations on the traffic I have been sending through exit sponsors. I have a randomizing script that cycles the traffic between my 3 favorite sponsors. It took 25 minutes. I got a HORRIFIC shock. One of them has the shave (whatever you want to call it) turned WAY up, and is making BANK on my traffic. I'm NOT going to name them. Don't ask, all you have to do is LOOK AT YOUR STATS, and you will know if you are sending to these guys, it is that bad. You don't need a cycling script, just Analog webstats, or whatever! Here are my stats; Sponsor 1 ------------- Percentage of traffic sent: 31.0% Percentage of income recieved 12.7% Cents per raw hit from my counters 0.0739 CPM from my counters (Raw clicks sent) $0.74 Sponsor 2 ------------- Percentage of traffic sent: 26.5% Percentage of income recieved 37.0% Cent per raw hit from my counters 0.2522 CPM from my counters (Raw clicks sent) $2.52 Sponsor 3 ------------- Percentage of traffic sent: 42.5% Percentage of income recieved 50.4% Cent per raw hit from my counters 0.2146 CPM from my counters (Raw clicks sent) $2.15 Obviously Sponsor 1 is taking me (and most likely everyone else) for a ride. Numbers do not lie. They pay for 3x less traffic than the others. 2 and 3 are both within a great range. Perhaps #2 has small unique counting issues, a 15% difference in reported can be attributed to different counting methods. Both are acceptable to me. I will continue sending equal traffic to both of them. I expected above $2+ CPM on average, if I am rotating my traffic between 3 people, obviously the true unique/raw ratio is going to be closer to 1 than simply sending to one sponsor. So this is my warning, not to the sponsors, but to any webmaster out there. WATCH YOURSELF. If you find someone burning you, just don't send traffic. That is all you can do. Accusing people of cheating in pissing matches gains nothing. It's the only way to play. Just because you think you know someone doesn't mean you really do. </rant> |

many of the blind click and exit programs dont count it if the surfer doesnt click on anything, or closes the window before it loads 100% etc... depending on their criteria of what kinda hit should not be counted, you will get different results... other than that, they might be using the good ol' shavometer as well...

I'm not going to say. The point was just to show that everyone should be prudent. Especially new adult webmasters.
I find a lot of people seem to take honesty for granted. |
