I got an audio cable plugged in, but it's shadowed out, I can't change the volume or unmute it or anything, help!

wit I got it working, but now when I try to record wit sound forge, I get dead air

the cable works, I took it from my TV, that usually goes to my sound system, and i put it in the line in of my sound card, i fucked around for like 1 hour, and sound forge was being a bitch

What sound card do you have? Sometimes the windows drivers don't work right with the sound card and visa/versa. I use external digital converters so I may not be much help but I play with sound all day long.

and they aren't MS's drivers, I use the drivers that came with the card
