With the current Roy Moore scandal, where he supposedly had sex with a 14 year old girl when he was 32, the media has mentioned the age of consent in Alabama as 16. This got me wondering... could someone film a porn video in Alabama and cast it with 16 year old teenagers? Does the US 2257 law require that models be 18 or over, or does it defer to whatever individual states consider to be "adult".

Just curious because it raises an interesting question: if a state considers a 16 year old to be an adult and able to have sexual activity, does this translate to doing porn, and then could that porn be sold or seen anywhere outside of Alabama where the legal age of consent is 18/21?

Maybe only if it would be shown/distributed in Alabama only? But in general no, otherwise it would have been done (not only Al has under 18 age, not to mention most of Europe etc).
So logically 2257 does not take into consideration anything less than 18 even if it is legal in certain states/countries.

Federal laws regarding child pornography are very specific. A minor is a person less that 18 years-of-age.

Most of the world is 16 age of consent, but 18 for porn, you´re running a business & not just enjoying your own self.

Why would you think Alabama is any different to the UK or other countries, why would they allow a 16 yr old be filmed and no other country in the world?

Damn yall this is pretty basic stuff any porner should know...federal law requires that you be 18 or older to perform in porn, state law can not supersede federal law (yes I know that states are currently testing that with marijuana)

There is no age of consent in federal law so thats up to the states....for porn its 18

and for the record anyone paying for the interstate transportation of models to do porn IS in direct violation of The Mann Act. Thats the federal white slavery statute just because they are not currently enforcing this on porners doesnt mean that they wont....when it occurs to Sessions a lot of porners could be in big trouble.

That would be a big problem for agencies and producers they would be limited to the state they reside.. correct? I know the law was similiar here in the 90s, you could not hire models from abroad back then. That would be considered human trafficking. Fortunately , the law was changed.
