Plans for dealing with The UK's Digital Economy Act 2017 - Blocking Porn

Anyone who makes money from UK traffic though about a plan for April 2018?

The UK Government want all porn to be behind an age verification wall by April 2018 or be blocked by UK ISPs.

Not clear exactly how many sites this will apply to, will it apply to affiliate landing pages for dating websites etc? the wording in the act is pretty vague in places but refers to still or moving picture created with the intention of causing arousal.

Just put an AV system on your site.

The demand wont change. Guys still want porn.

The only difference is you wont be serving porn to kids who cannot pay anyway.

Yeah - my issue is it's so vague - the way the wording of the bill is set out, the UK government could technically block and fine google.com!!

What, for example do we do about affiliate landing pages with sexual images whose sole purpose is to convert traffic once it goes to a money site.... you have to have a AVS on the landing page, only to have to use a CC to buy into the actual page you're sending traffic to for conversion...??

I have some phone sex sites as well - they have some vids and pics on them, it would be ridiculous to have an AVS on a site listing phone sex numbers so I guess we just have to make all the images and videos PG?

        Seems a mess!

There are multiple AV solutions in development for the U.K. You'll hear about them and have the opportunity to implement before it becomes law.
