MPEG Chop Question
Here's a problem maybe on of you video gurus can answer.
Sent off a 30 minute scene to a customer in MPEG1 format out of Adobe Premiere. The client is trying to chop it up into smaller chunks but he can't get the files to play in Media Player - gets 'unrecognized file format'. He's tried a couple different chopper tools including TMPGENC. Anybody know what the problem might be? thanks

I bet the first clip plays fine then the rest don't. That's because all the info that the player needs is put in a header and when he chopped it the header went with the first clip.
He will have to turn it into an AVI and cut it up, then re-process it into Mpeg or bring it into Moviemaker and chop it into WMV files. |

These are mpeg chopping tools, they correctly rewrite the data as a valid (and independent) file. I occasionally use tmpgenc for crude editing, you can set a bunch of time periods, click start, and it creates a new mpeg for you.

tmpgenc will not chop usable files. It even says it in the help section. They built another tool that will do it but it works in wierd players not Window media player, Quicktime or Real player.
