No, that recession started in the late 70's and had a lot more to do with inflation and the oil embargo than anything else.
The end of the oil embargo, plus the invention of the fuel injector, plus massive military spending pulled us out of that one.

During the great depression we had around 40% unemployment. That fucking hurts no matter how many VISA's you have.

LOL..you got to be kidding me! You're saying the recession in the 80's was NOT due to the largest deficit spending that had ever been seen (until now), followed by the BIGGEST tax cut for rich (until NOW) that so stomped the economy down, we didn't get a handle on the deficit until Clinton took office!

is there a need to do more?
raising taxes will NEVER cure the problem of out of control government spending. cutting taxes at least has a chance.
You cut taxes because its the right thing to do.

you raise taxes because its the wrong thing to do but you're able to do it.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

Actually the recession we had in the early 80's started in the late 70's under president Carter. We had double digit inflation, oil prices through the roof, an energy crisis (long long long lines at gas pumps, electricity bills were obscene)
Reagan inherited that recession, he didn't create it.
The economy actually grew under Reagan and continued to do so until the tail end of Bush Sr's administration.

While I disagree with a lot of Reagan's philosophies and policies, making statements like you just did that have no basis in fact is not helping me make my case.

The point of my post was not to help you do anything.
It was to tell the truth! And to say the economy grew during Reagan's administration is not being truthfull. We can argue about what "Growth" is..but the only thing that really got a good jump on everyone WAS the deficit. We are about to repeat the same mistake again.

Then how about you stop voting for assclowns that want to spend more than they take in?
Then, how about giving a tax cut to the people who pay for all the nice things the government *gives* you?
