Amazon experts get in here !!!!

OK so i was about to order some TIG welders via Amazon, during checkout i noticed they are charging tax on the order despite them not have a presents in Maine and the seller is also not in Maine. I contacted Amazon who as usual were extremely friendly but came up with some strange reasons for the tax. The first was the seller had requested tax be collected, the second was it may be a state requirement.

I contacted the seller directly and was assured if i ordered from them i would not be charged tax as they had no requirement to without tax for Maine. Obviously i ordered from them directly as they had free delivery as well. I am noticing this more and more with Amazon orders lately and wanted to know if any Amazon experts here had a reasonable explanation ? |

yes. amazon has become a greedy huge monopoly & can do whatever the fuck it wants, because they buy influence from both parties in the congress-for-sale system.

so they charge tax now in states that dont have them, because they can. thats why you got a bullshit response from them. they cant tell you the truth. dont like it? stop using amazon. ![]() |

Amazon is the one pushing it. It will eventually hurt them. My ebay listings have tax added for TN residents. In the 15+ years I've been on there I've probably sold 1 thing through there to someone in my state and it's because of the tax. Who wants to pay for shipping + a tax. And then when your local tax authority comes by he/she's going to want you to pay a use tax on it again. Their business now is distribution. Since they are working with large companies with a presence in every state they have to charge tax. The small mom and pop shop that only has a presence in one state doesn't so it's competition. Competition they view as unfair.

shame the democrats are a party of money & racism now instead of being for working class. past democrat parties woulda fought this monopoly power. But todays democrats only care about racism. & since silicon valley is liberal & donates huge bank to liberal causes, liberals keep their mouths shut about the injustice wrought by monopolies now.

I also noticed they are censoring reviews if they are critical of the seller or product. Hardly unbiased ?

Amazon used to be the cheapest place to buy things but not anymore. It's full of shady re-sellers now. I still search Newegg first for any computer equipment. Anything else you'd probably get it cheaper directly from the manufacturer than Amazon.
