Events I went to a 'Humanist' funeral today...

Very nice. So much better than the usual religious nonsense that leaves you feeling upset and depressed...

I went once to a wedding in a church. If a pastor would talk to me like that, i would have hit him. There was realy no time to celebrate, there was only one who we should be celebrating, we should suffer! I needed 10 beers after that to enjoy life again. Was my first and last time in a church, except for looking at the historic building as a tourist.

      everything is fake

I had a humanist conduct my wedding, it was really nice and he kept it short unlike normal religious weddings that drag the fuck on for 1 hour +. I originally planned to have a Priest, we met with him and told him we lived in Canada now but planned to marry back home in Scotland, he said he would require week to week information from our local Church in Canada and updates/reports from the Priest there before he'd agree to marry us. He then made a big stink about us getting married so close to Easter (3 weeks after it) and took issue that we lived together.

In the end I thanked him for his time, told him I no longer wanted his services and would figure something else out. We did, Humanist was great, everyone commented how lovely it was and we went about enjoying the rest of our day.

It was a non religious service that celebrated the life of the deceased, as opposed to making us feel upset she had passed.

Religion always gets in the way, even in circumstances for which it is actually intended...
